I am wanting to make some provisions to a Savage tupperware stock and was wondering if there is a way to apply a texture to the surface after completing the modification. I have done fiberglass work in the past and was left with a nice smooth surface but would like something a little different for the stock of this rifle.

Thanks,

There are hammertone paints, granite tone paints and also a stipple type second coat paint that you can buy at home depot and Rona stores. You can then put a clear coat of laquere paint over top to protect them further. You can have a rough textured surface that you apply over other colours of base coats.

The ever popular truck bedding spray. Durable and can be painted over easily.

If you want more textures, get the granite/rock spray paint. That does a wonderful job of hiding surface flaws and provides a very nice bumpy surface.

Cover with a compatible paint for whatever colour you want. A clear over all of this helps keep wear to a min.

You can get trunk paint in spray cans,it has a nice texture and comes with diff colored specks in it.black with blue specks or black with white specks.Spray it on and just leave it like that.

You can also mold texture on the outside by:

Applying adhesive, and then embeding sand, then over coating, or applying a gel adhesive, and embedding something like bug netting or silicone molds and peeling off, etc...

Truck bedliner spray is the most durable and is about $8 a can at Canadian Tire. For a smooth pebbled finish hold the can about 12" away and apply a little wet. For a more textured finish like and original plastic stock hold can about 18" away and apply light dry coats. Works great I have done several.
