Para Ordnance has launched an Appreciation for Service Program for current and retired members of the Canadian Forces.

The short version is that CF members can purchase selected pistols, factory direct from Para at a reduced price. Pistols in the program will be engraved with the term Canadian Forces on the slide and will have a maple leaf behind the rear cocking serrations on both sides.

Check out my profile picture to see one of the pistols available through the program:

The second option is the Tac-Five
+ special engraving

For pricing and other details you'll have to sign up.

If you can't access your cf email address, you could always send send an e-mail to cfparadeal@shaw.ca with your full name, rank, service number, unit (or former unit) and point of contact who can verify your status.

Now I just have to make up my mind between a 9mm LDA of a SA in 45acp... decision, decision... :D

No brainer .45

I got my DWAN account AFTER I retired, the only thing friggin slower is the French Army doing an advance to contact! I have to use the DWAN to apply for annual leave and the last time I checked a month or so ago there were 140 unread emails. Thank gawd Defence Research is connected to the internet. If the want my dwan email address, I guess they don't want my business!

Hmm...The 'Canadian Forces' and maple leaf are simply painted on?

I'm all for Para guns and think it's a nice gesture to CF and former CF members, but the remark is more about design...

Is it basically your typical Para gun, unmarked, in sand colour with just the lettering and flag sprayed on?

Would have been nice if the slide was engraved or putting the coat of arms somewhere as well.

Hell if you want to really celebrate the CF and continue with the sand colour theme, put on Arid patterned grips and offer (expensive option now...) to engrave unit/branch motto on a specific location like the other side of the slide.

As I read it, the maple leaf is engraved on both sides. Canadian Forces is only engraved on one side of the slide.

The picture of the 45 was photoshoped to give you and idea of what the pistol will look like.

You don't have to use your "@forces.gc.ca" email account... but it is the fastest way to register and gain access to the forum and find out the details about the deal.

If you sign up with a civilian email address, the officer in charge of the program will first need to validate your credential... That's what I did, and it took a little longer (like 2 days).

Also, please note that this same officer will be away until June 22nd, so if you are signing up with hotmail, you probably won't be getting a answer until then...

If you were in the reserves (In my case the Navy) be prepared to provide a copy of your discharge papers to prove you served. I have written Public Archives for a copy of my service records in order to get on to the forum. Sorry but after 48 years and several moves, my discharge papers seem to have disappeared.

The Tac Five looks appealing.

Take Care

Bob
