approximate value of .45 auto casings?

Hello,

I shoot a 9mm and a .45 auto pistol; and since I don't reload and only use factory ammunition, I usually invite other shooters to collect all my casings.

In cases where I'm the only shooter, I usually just sweep up all the casings and dump them into the brass bucket with all the other various casings.

I know 9mm casings are not that high in demand and relatively easy to come by; but should I save them anyways? I have over 1700 rounds of 9x19mm ammunition (American Eagle 115gr FMJ, Winchester "white box" 115gr FMJ, and Speer Lawman 115 TMJ).

But the real question is my case of 1000 rounds of American Eagle .45 Auto 230gr FMJ (AE45A). If I were to shoot all 1000 rounds and save every cartridge case (making sure to store them back into their original 50-rd boxes), how much can I reasonably sell them for? What's the usually price range?

Note that I'm not looking for a huge cash haul; I just don't want all that brass to go to waste.

At the above price, you'll sell them in about 5 minutes on the EE. For $110, maybe a couple hours. $120, it'll take a couple days. 45acp brass is a pretty hot commodity these days, I've missed the last few boats on the EE. Sent 5 PMs to different guys selling on the EE, nothing to show for it.
 
I will trade 3000 9mm for 1000 .45 (seriously.... I would!!)........ That is about the going rate.... 9mm sells @ $35 to $45 per 1000.... .45 sells for 3x that.

Pretty sick when you get $8 per 1000 if you send it to Combat masters or Wolf Bullets when you are buying ammo from them.

Persoanlly I would keep it. Donate it to your range club or sell it by the 200 on the EE.... My local g-store sells 1xf .45 brass, when they get their hands on some, for $20 per 100...... and they can't keep it in stock!

$100.00 for a case of 1000 .45 auto casings seems fair enough for me; like I said before, I'm not trying to get top dollar. I would just be happy that my expended cartridge casings are put to good use.

However, if they were Remington UMC or Winchester white box casings, then I'd probably up to rate to $120 or more, lol.

Anyways, I still have lots to learn so thanks for the helpful info!

And don't expect me to put these casings up for sale soon; like most people I'm kinda stingy when it comes to shooting pricey .45 ammo

Put em in your safety deposit box. At the rate this kind of stuff is going up in value its a better investment than most financial instruments :D.
