I have an apportunity to pick up this rifle and want to make sure i dont pay too much.
It has no magazine but otherwise complete and built in 1946.
I still havent seen it yet but from the description it is in very good condition.

Thanks!

Jon

There weren't many of them made... the 7X33 is a little oddball... which means cool but not very practical... can you still source ammo or cases for these? Might be fun to play with as a fox/coon gun... but there are so many others that have equal "coolness" and much better ballistics. Personally, I think you should buy it, and then post pictures of the rifle and then load data, and then pictures of the gun with game taken etc... etc...

I bet those are hard to find and expensive.

7 x 33 is not something that will be found at your LGS.
Sako still lists the cartridge.
With a muzzle velocity of 740 mps or just over 2400 fps with a 78 grain bullet they show it for small antlered game.
Even at a really good price it does not strike me as a deal.

I thought it wa a experimental military cartridge, the most powerful that could be made on tooling for 9mm Parabelum.

If anyone believe SAKO was developing a cartridge to shoot grouse at the same time Germany was developing the 7.92x33 and the Soviets the 7.62x39 I have some beach front for sale.

Neat little cartridge to play with, but a light rifle in 7.62 Tokarev would be much more fun & affordable to dink around with. Hey Ruger, how bout whippin' up a batch of rifles based on the 77/357 action?;)

No photos yet.
Bertram makes brass, i imagine someone makes dies if brass is out there.
I actually dont hunt but like to collect oddities, play with em for a bit then in the safe.

Ill get pictures asap.

Got to see it today.

Metal is all in great shape, bore is nice and shiny and sharp.
Weaver 2.5 is post reticle and in good shape and in Sako rings.
Stock is unharmed, but very shiny so maybe refinished?

Missing: Magazine, Buttplate and the adjuster on the rear sight, ramp is there tho.

Any ideas on price guys?

It is a very rare chambering in that rifle. Check out the Sako Collectors Forum, and ask your questions there.
