I am lead to believe that the provincials will be shot on electronic targets but I would like to find out if this is true. This is a huge issue for me because the Homestead system hasn't proven to be reliable during the times I have been present and always fails. I am told that the supply of paper targets has run out and there is no options now other than electronic. Long way to travel for a cancelled match due to equipment failure.

I have talked to several shooters who are not attending because of the electronic targets.
I am wondering how many other shooters that are not attending solely because of this!
Myself included, have real concerns as this is a conciderable financial commitment to attend with travel, hotels etc, only to end up with a #### show!
I have never had a problem pulling targets and shooting on paper.
Last year was the same issue - the E targets didn't work!

I understand that the provincials will be shot on electronic targets. This is a huge issue for me because the damn system isn't reliable and always fails. I understand that the supply of paper targets has run out and there is no options now other than electronic. Personally, I don't think I would interested in making the commitment to travel to the match to shoot on the electronics given that I have to travel a long distance and stay in motels near the range if there is no option other than the electronics.
I'm not sure where you get your information from Steve, but your stories are a certainly made up. Yes it is true that Provincials will be shot on electronic targets this year, but not because we have run out of paper targets! There are just too many things to do and not enough time to get it all done. There are 7 guys from the club that are heading to Ottawa for a week of shooting along with other commitments along the way. The targets are not in good enough shape to shoot a provincial match on, and we haven't got the time required to re face all the 300,400,500,600 and long range targets. Unfortunately some of the shooters complaining about having to shoot on Electrics are also some of the guys that won't even show up to a work party and help out when help is needed. I don't want to shoot Provincials on Electronics either, but at least I'm realistic enough to realize that this is a better option than shooting on the crappy targets we have right now.

Eric I am not making stories up. I was simply asking a question because every time I have been back to Homestead and we tried to use the electronics they failed to work. Those weren't "stories" but my personal experience. I understand they failed again during a match about a month ago.
In discussions with other shooters about coming to Homestead I was informed that you have no stock of paper targets at all and that is why I was asking. If that is not the case, then I was misinformed about that from people not in the know.

I don't really care what targets we shoot on.
I believe Henry said I needed Chrome to have the target system work. Anyone know if a Samsung notepad will work?
I think that is what I have need to get someone to set it up for me
Last year one of the guys at the shoot said it was my responsiblility to know how to do it. 1/2hour later the targets failed in the mist
Still have not got it done but I think I know a better guy who will do it for me. Jeff

If this is so, has DCRA or any other Canadian party established minimum precision requirements for E-Targets?
If so what is that requirement?
What is the qualifying process for an E-Target vendor qualify?
And what 3rd party is commissioned to qualify a target?

Are you offering to demo the targets you sell for the weekend at Provincials? Honestly your best bet would be to contact the match organizers directly as they would be the best people to ask those questions to.
I'd love to demo them there. The match directors know that.

I have shot on the electronic targets three times only and have yet to shoot a serious "F" class match but, while there have been occasional glitches, I have, for the most part, found the experience to be a positive one. I had one shot lost when the system did not read the shot but I have lost points when a scorer marked a shot incorrectly as well ( A first shot V-bull marked as a three and the subsequent sight adjustment producing, not surisingly, a three) so can't condemn the system over that one shot. I feel the e-targets have the potential to have a great impact on training with immediate feedback available to the shooter.
Accuacy of the system , while not perfect, is acceptable to me. One won't lose a point for a solid hit though it may be that one might lose the occasional squeaker. The ideal solution is to shoot solid fives and Vees!
