PROVINCIAL HIGH POWER RIFLE CHAMPIONSHIPS
APRA Homestead Shooting Centre (*** Now at Nokomis SK, North Star / SPRA Range)
June 27 to June 30, 2008
CLASSIFICATIONS: Current DCRA or PRA classifications will apply. The APRA
Fullbore Committee will classify any competitor not having a recent PRA or DCRA
classification. “F” Class competitors will shoot unclassified.
AWARDS: In 2008 we will award Cash Prizes to the Match Winners except Match 11
and High Master, High Expert and High Sharpshooter/Marksman. Cash Prizes will be
awarded to the High “F” Class Shooter and runner-up.
Alberta Plaques with medals inserted will be awarded to the winner of the
MacDonald Stewart Grand Aggregate (Match 11) and High Master, High Expert, High
Sharpshooter / Marksman.
Competitors entered in any class in which there are less than three entries will
compete in the next higher class.
Challenge Trophies, where presented, will not be taken away by the winner.
REGULATIONS: Matches will commence at 9:00 a.m. each day.
A current PRA or DCRA membership will be required for all competitors firing Target
Rifle Competitions. A current PRA membership will be required for all “ISSF”, “F”
class and “TR Optical” entries.
Current DCRA regulations will apply to all entries shooting Target Rifle, “TRO”
and “F” class except that squadding may be in threes at the discretion of the Match
Committee. Squadding will be done on the firing point. Hand loaded or commercial
ammunition (5.56 or 7.62) may be used in TR competitions. Any ammunition, not
exceeding 8mm, may be used in the ISSF match.
Tie scores will be decided by counting back except in the case of First place in
individual matches where a tie score including “V’s” will be shot off at the longest
distance immediately following the match. Class winners and Aggregate winners will
be decided by counting back.
Conversion of sighting shots will be allowed in TR and “F” Class matches.
MACDONALD STEWART FOUNDATION: Other than special medals, all prizes
have been donated by the Macdonald Stewart Foundation.
ALBERTA “ISSF” CHAMPIONSHIP: On Wednesday we will stage an “ISSF”
type match which is open to all. Any centre fire rifle with iron sights will be allowed
including DCRA type target rifles. Entries must be received not later than July 08,
2006. Entries will be limited to 3 relays of up to 6 participants. Preference will be
given to those whose equipment meets ISSF or Target Rifle rules, but space permitting,
“F” class entries are encouraged. Special Gold, Silver and Bronze Plaques
will be awarded to the first three competitors in the ISSF classification and a Special
Plaque will be awarded to the highest score made in “F” Class (3 entries or more).

MATCH #1 - “ISSF” TYPE 300 METER MATCH
MATCH #2 - “F” Class “ISSF” TYPE 300 METER MATCH
RANGE - 300 Meters
ROUNDS - 60 on score
ENTRY FEE - $40.00
PRIZES - Special Plaques, Gold to First, Silver to Second and Bronze to Third, and
should entries warrant a Special Plaques Gold to First, Silver to Second and Bronze to Third in “F” Class.
SPECIAL RULES - Any Centre Fire Iron Sights Rifle and any ammunition not
larger than 8mm may be used. One shooter per target. One relay will fire in the
morning and two in the afternoon. Relay and target will be allotted by draw before
commencement of the first relay. Unlimited sighters allowed before firing the first
shot on score. Two hour time limit to fire sighters and three targets of 20 scoring
shots each. Each shot will be spotted but no value signaled.
Open to the first 18 entries only which must be received by May 15, 2008

RANGES - 300, 600 & 900 Meters (300m & 600 & 1000 Yds)
ROUNDS - 2SS & 10 at 300 Meters, 2SS & 15 at 600 & 900 Meters
PRIZES - The J.J. Bowlen Challenge Trophy and DCRA Gold Medal to the winner,
DCRA Silver Medal to the Second and DCRA Bronze to Third. The winner will be
“chaired” to the prize presentation area. His or her name will be recorded on the
chair.
MATCH #10 - TWA FREENS MATCH
RANGE - 900 Meters (1000 Yds)
ROUNDS - 5 shots on score by each of a team of two “freens” prior to the
900 Meters of the Lieut. Governor’s Match. Open to any two TR or “F” Class
competitors. Two individual rifles must be used by each team. Coaching within the
team allowed. No sighters.
In 1908, Major Hart-McHarg of Vancouver attended the APRA Matches and first
sponsored this match and laid down the conditions, donating the souvenirs. He won
the Governor General’s Match at Ottawa in 1908 and again in 1913. In 1913 during
the Palma Trophy Match at Camp Perry, USA, he won the Kaiser Wilhelm II Gold
Cup emblematic of the Long Range Championship of the world. He was killed by a
sniper early in WW I.

INTERPROVINCIAL TEAM MATCH
In the event that sufficient entries (two or more) are received from other Provinces,
an Interprovincial Team Match will be held at a time and range to be decided during
the Matches.

MATCH #11 - MACDONALD STEWART GRAND AGGREGATE
RANGES - Consists of all scores fired in Matches # 3 to # 8 inclusive
TROPHY - The Macdonald Tobacco Inc. Challenge Trophy to the winner. The
W.S. Herron Memorial Challenge Trophy to the high Expert, excluding the
match winner. The Highland Lassie Trophy to the high Marksman or Novice.
MATCH #12 - SHORT RANGE AGGREGATE
RANGES - All scores fired from 300 to 600 Meters inclusive in the Grand
Aggregate
MATCH #13 - LONG RANGE AGGREGATE
RANGES - All scores fired from 700, 800 and 900 Meters inclusive in the
Grand Aggregate
TROPHY - The Douglas Containers Challenge Trophy to the winner.
MATCH #14 - OTTAWA AGGREGATE
RANGES - All scores fired in the Grand Aggregate and the Lieutenant
Governor’s Match
TROPHY - The W.S. MacNab Challenge Trophy and the Governor General’s
Silver Medal to the winner.
This Aggregate along with other criteria as specified by the APRA Full Bore
Club is used in the selection of competitors to receive training grants from the
Alberta Sport, Recreation, Parks and Wildlife through the AFSS.
Travel Grants, for Alberta Residents who attend the DCRA National
Championships and the PPRA Regional Matches, received through the Alberta
Sport, Recreation, Parks and Wildlife will be shared equally by all members of
the Alberta Target Rifle Team to assist in defraying costs. Air Fare and other
expense receipts must be retained and forwarded to the Vice President, Fullbore,
at the conclusion of the DCRA matches.
The Ottawa Aggregate is open only to APRA members.
The medals presented by the DCRA and Governor General can only be given to
DCRA members.
