April 14 and still wearing horns

had a bunch of mule deer feed through the yard this AM and one was a buck that was still carrying both horns and they still appear solidly attached as he rubbed on a tree a bit while i watched.
Ive seen bucks a few times with horns still in early march but this is the first time this late in the spring.
 
Down here, we are experience sporadic and delayed rutting patterns from the deer too, maybe by a week an up to two in places?
Weathers got to play some part with flicking the switch to start or repeat process
 
Some deer drop them really late. I remember once when three of us were going fishing on opening day and saw a little 4 point mulie in the ditch. We must have gone 1/2 mile when it occurred to everyone at the same time that he shouldn't be wearing his antlers on the second week of May.

Injuries can do weird things too; like staying in velvet or not shedding at all.
