I only managed to snap one picture of it while I had it out this past weekend.

Got the Rifle in February, the new stock in March, and took the pictures in April.

RC BSW 1937 in 1939 WaA 1 matching stock set.

Here is my April Fools Day Purchase BUT FOR REAL. My first Lee Enfield. I just figured that if Claven and the boys all have LE's Then I better join the club. :runaway:

It's currently enroute from White Rock BC, to Proud new owner's (ME :wave:

) home in Edmonchuck AB.

Thanks to Claven I managed to get a nice VKT 1942 Finnish M39

Here it is

Seems to have the Imperial Russian stamp on the reciever. More details from Claven

and boy is she a shooter @100m bench (2 CGN witnesses)

Well I'm not all that knowledgable about these Lee Enfields. But this is one of those produced in the USA by Savage Arms for use by England models?? It has US Property stamped on it as well as England? So don't know if it is a collectable or not, but I thought the two country's marking on it was kinda neat. :canadaFlag:

Its collectable like any Enfield, I don't think the Savage Enfields are much more collectable up here (different in the US). I think Savage was one of, if not that, most numerous manufacturers of No.4s. The US Property mark, as you probably know, was just a little legalism, because Lend / Lease was supposed to be LENDING US equipment, not just making foreign stuff for free.

Mauser 98

Nice one Skippy
According to my book on Mausers. Backbone or the Wehrmacht The German K98k Rifle 1934-1945 by Richard D Law

The "BSW" logo used on K98ks produced by Berlin-Suhler-Waffen und Fahrezeugwerke in 1937, the first year of manufacture by the sixth K98k contractor.

It should have a solid walnut stock and all milled parts with flat butt plate.
You did a great job of restoring it. If you ever want to part with it let me know.

Yea it should be WaA 4 as well, but Gustloff (who owned BSW by 1939) used WaA 1 parts, so I decided to put her back together as practically as I could. I think she turned out very nice. And she can definatly shoot, as I found out this weekend.

Next weekend I'll take a few more pics to tease you all with.

The MKL entry also includes several on-line videos of the MG42 assembly & disassembly, as well combat action, plus there's a contemporary one that shows a U.S. owner (lucky guy) letting loose with an entire 250 round belt in one long burst. Not good for the barrel, but certainly fun to do, at least once.

Okay, It's been a while since I posted in the purchase form with pictures so here it goes.

The SVT40 is a dream to shoot but it is devastating on brass :bangHead:

It is suprising light and about as accurate as my 1891/30's. A sling for this is next on my list.

Okay the 1891 Fin was made in 1940 by Tika. I got it as part of an awesome deal from Doug (who has not bought a gun from Doug? :canadaFlag:

) Anyhow, it was missing the top wood. Andy,

and recently picked up the top wood for me. I've been looking everywhere for this part - very hard to find. Now for the really cool part... :rockOn:

the wood is a perfect match in colour...

I bought the US Model of 1917 just because Hitzy has one. And sorry 'bout the P17 joke..

The rifle needs some work, but I'll get to it someday..

Lastly, the Carcano...you guys missed out on a good deal on this one. I watched it for a few weeks as the price dropped. I guess no one like to reload or they actually believe in the Carcano rep. I had to save it. I figured Andy might try and blow it up

Anyhow, the rifle is matching has a cleaning rod and the markings are damn good. I have to work on the sights and my reloads but you may see this rig at an upcoming Milsurp shoot. :canadaFlag:

Guys I am n00b @ this but I live in Winnipeg, MB and would love to buy a big old rifle like these ones for like 100 bucks... is this feasable and if so where do I go to get one. Thanks

Wrong thread... but you're not going to get anything decent for $100. Save your money and you can get a decent Mosin Nagant for $175. Or you can get a sportered Enfield for around $150 in decent shape.

Nice M1917, Canuck. It needs a little TLC, so what are you going to do to it? Light steel wool and some linseed oil, or are you going to re-blue?

Before shipping, it can be done. Go on the EE and watch like a hawk. If you see somehting in the $150 pricerange, offer 135 shipping included. Don't be a turd and do that to someone with an all matching g43 or anything, but sometimes people are willing to help a newbie out.

Got this wonderful Finn Mosin Nagant M91.
seems straight from the factory,
mirror bore, strong rifling,
some cosmoline still on the bolt, factory tag still attached,
love it love it.

I'm thinking light steel wool and leave the metal as-is. The wood does need some cleaning (dishwasher if the warden a'int around) and then BLO.
