Joe.... You lucky basta..... ;)

I have a lonely G43 who has bad eyesight... Have pity on him... :D

What rifle was that baby sitting on? Nice quick detach mounts though...

PM me if you are looking to sell or trade. ;)

Gew 71/84 - almost totally matching... two screws with different but matching to each other serial numbers.

COVERED in oil and dirt, but suprisingly good condition. Firing pin got bent somehow... and missing the sling swivels and middle barrel band, but underneath it all is beautifully preserved wood and metal. I can't wait to get this gun back to the shop to refurbish it.

By the way, anyone know any details on these markings? It'd be neat to find out about it's history.

Marked 11.R.E.
1.192.

(What you're seeing here is the worst pitting on the gun mixed with flaking oil and gunk)

192nd weapon issued to the 1st company of the 11th Infantry replacement regiment. I do not have exact details on where they were located but if you post on Gunboards, under the Mannlicher and Black powder forum, Coyote or someone can give you more details.

How is the bore on this one ?

BTW, she is only one regiment off from mine (10th Infantry replacement regiment, located in West Prussia).

Where was she made ? Year ? (I'm putting money down on Spandau 1888 :) ) Does the serial number have a suffix ? If not, generally what is the serial number range (i.e. 9000s ) ? That can give you a good estimate what month she was made and roughly what week during that month in some cases.

33/40 Mausers "dot" 1942 & 945 1940
The Bottom G33/40 has a K98 bolt, and a number on the floor plate.
The 945 has a really interesting three piece stock. In the pictures I received prior to receiving the guns looked like someone had tried to paint it. It reminds me of the Finn Mosin-Nagants.

No4 Mk1* Long Branch 24L, 1943. With new Canadian marked sling, bress oiler, and pull through. I am not sure if the early WWII Long Branch rifles were issued with brass oilers. It has Canadian C /l\ stamps on both the body and the top.

Decisions Decisions

I can't believe I got those hard to find firearms and they are better than I expected BUT.

I have decided I will put the following items up for sale.
A K98k Portuguese 1941
A mis-match G33/40,
The "dou" 45 K98k after its restored to original
One or two P14s, and a P17
A number of No1 MkIII*
A couple of No4s
Three No5s
Cooey 82
My Beretta collection
A 1916 Luger
Prohibs and a few antique firearms.
Bayonets.
I hate to do it, but I would like to help my daughter with a down payment on a house.
So I probably won't be interested in trades, unless they are something I cant live without.
It never ends just when a chance comes to pick up something rare or my collection something pops up. But I am keeping two of the best examples, so its not a total loss.

PLEASE WAIT UNTIL I LIST THE ITEMS

The Luger is a prohibited 12-6 and is marked 1916 DWM and the only part that is mismatched is the side plate.

Well that is sad. I really wish they would take the Luger off the prohibited list and, at the very least, put it on the restricted list. A 90 year + old hand gun with parts that are not easily replaced is not comparable to a Glock 17. My rant for the day.

The hunt continues.

How about one of the 5" barreled Swiss ones?

I'll be waiting on those antiques.

She's made 1888 Spandau - star for you;)

9###, mid range. Funny that these guns were made over 100 years ago, yet two from the same manufacturer in possibly the same ser # line, and with a fair amount in common ended up in Canada with the owners talking eh?

Bore is strong with some pitting. Looks like bubba tried to bugger her but she was too well build for him... you can see where he used a mallet to remove the middle stock band... no one apparently told him that loose isn't intuitive on these guns, and he bent the firing pin and snapped the back end off of the ejector.... but the gun is remarkably intact. Didn't really do too much permanet damage. It looked like hell when I got it, but turns out it was a layer of grease and old linseed oil that had caked onto every surface and actually protected the gun pretty well.

The Finn lugers, are now getting scarce. I don't think Collector's Source has any left. They do have a lot of P38 pistols though.

Swiss 06/29 pistols, may be a bit over priced right now. TSE was selling them for $2600, then suddenly quit listing them. Tradex has a dozen or so and so does P&S.

They're all matching and in VG+ - Exc. Condition. I wonder how many of the Swiss pistols were actually released? I made mention of them on Milsurps and the only reply came from a fellow in Germany. Anybody have any ideas of how many were actually brought into North America. I suspect it was a very limited amount.

Very cool! Mine is also in the mid 9000 range with no suffix. I do not have production numbers for Spandau in 1888 but it is safe to say both of ours were made in late January of that year right before the whole Three Emperors incident occured so she is stamped for Wilhelm I (F.W.). If you like, we can exchange serial numbers via PM to see just how close they are.

I find one of the toughest things to remove without damaging the wood is the middle band so watch out when you go about disassembling. Oh and don't push down the elevator plate when the bolt is out of the rifle...trust me, you don't want to dissassemble the whole rifle just to push it back up again so you can get the bolt back in :p.

I look forward to more pictures when she is cleaned up.

Oh and if you do take her out shooting, a range report with load data is a must :D.

I'll be waiting on those antiques.
