April Purchases

Couple of milsurps c/o Numrich

Want a proper Swedish infantry uniform to go with that pattern 37 Swedish helmet?

I have a tunic, field shirt and pants that match it I can sell. It comes with suspenders and puttees which externally look correct, but are actually East German in origin.

I'm 6' tall, 42 chest and 34 pant and the uniform fits me.

PM if interested, it would be great for a display.

.455 s&w

The Easter Show in Calgary cost me more than $12 for parking this year, as it brought me into contact with this Smith and Wesson .455 Hand Ejector Second Model. Pictures are the seller's as I await delivery (any day now I hope), but I wanted to get it into this month's "purchases" as I'm pretty jazzed about getting it. :dancingbanana:

Not mint by any stretch, but that works for me as I intend to shoot it (when I can afford .455 ammunition)

It has military proofs and belonged to a Canadian soldier who gained a field commission during the Great War. His initials are gently scratched into the bottom of one of the grips, and etched into the inside of the top flap of the holster that comes with it. Said soldier also received the Military Cross for some of his actions, and the revolver also comes with the miniature set of his medals.

Wow a beautiful handgun RangeRover! Wonderful! I have here my April Purchase from member Dutchie, something I've wanted for many years: a 1915 Australian Lithgow, all matching. A wonderful gun, bore is very good on her and she is sturdy! I cannot wait to shoot her! Here are a couple pictures for you folks!

I picked up this SMLE Mk. III* at the Calgary Gun Show:

DSC00256.JPG

It was built at RSAF Enfield in 1917 and appears to have gotten around quite a bit during its military career. The left side of the receiver ring is stamped with a C-broad arrow, but it appears to have been subsequently refurbished in Australia. It has the Parkerized finish often seen on Lithgows. The butt is stamped with the letters R over MA over 7/46, which I assume to be the date it was refurbished. The rear sight ears is marked with OA and the nosecap also has a six-pointed star with an A in it.

I'm sure this one could tell some interesting stories if it could talk.

This is sort of an end of March, beginning of April purchase.

DI ** Enfield with a 1940 dated barrel, but a 1943 frame. The barrel is serial numbered to the frame. It is also interesting that it has British import marks, including "Not an English Make" which has subsequently been crossed out.

The RAC Pistol Case is a 1952 made by MW&S Ltd.

Just picked up this Ross M10 in .303 today at the Perth/Lanark show. Bore looks good with some shine and sharp rifling and everything functions perfectly, bolt is safe and I don't see a pin anywhere, though I'm not sure where to look. Finally got my Ross, and it's a very nice sporter too. Thought the M10 was only in .280 though... Can't wait to shoot it!

Yours is unpinned. Normally they're across the top of the bolt about halfway down.

Looks like bubba did a nice job on that one, though the muzzle looks a little odd... I'd be interested to get a side pic of the first 3 or so inches...
