Aprox Value of Sako 375 H&H Magnum

Does anyone have the approximate value of a 1990's Sako 375 H&H magnum??? This is an upgraded gun over standard as it has a little engraving and was apparently considered and upgrade of standard Sako's of this time period. I believe it has a hinged floor plate not a clip as it was before the the Sako 75's came out. Going to look at one tomorrow in private sale and am looking for approximate value if the forearm is in excellent condition.
Any info greatly appreciated.
 
It's hard to say without more info. What is engraved? The floorplate? The action itself? Is it factory engraving or added later? Does it have a 1/4 rib? Do you know what series it is? The 75's came out in 1997 - and not all 75's came with detachable magazine, some came with floorplates.
There are just too many unanswered questions to try and give you a value.
 
90's Sako?....could be an AV or and L691.

Probably an AV as L691's are not that common being made for only about 6 years.

There was a standard Hunter model, a Deluxe and a Safari model. Big differences in value.

Pics would help immensely.
 
Yup. Need more info for sure. Sounds like an AV Deluxe though, and they can be tough to price.
I'm thinking anywhere from $1100 and up, even towards $1500 if it's mint.

What about the price range? 375's aren't exactly easy to find.
I think the last AV Deluxe in 30-06 I saw on here went for $1100 ish?

I believe it is a Hunter Deluxe or Safari.....it was an upgraded version for sure. I will not know until I see it in the next day or two as I may purchase it if condition and price is right. I seen it years ago and I remember it was factory engraved on the floor plate....not sure about the action.
It was worth just over $1000 in the mid 1990's
 
So, things we'll want to know. Barrel address on the side of barrel, with calibre marking on top, or on the side. Ibex type creature engraved on floor plate. Red, non vented recoil pad, or brown or grey vented type. Glossy finished stock, or oil. Contrasting grip and forend caps, or not. Square checkering pattern, or rounded, on the ends of the pattern. Rib on barrel, or no. And of course, the model number on the left side of the receiver. The blueing should be glossy, and look as if it's about 3 feet deep.

I'll guess right now, from what you've described, that its a red recoil pad, with calibre and address on the side of the barrel, no rib, with a rounded checkering pattern.
It could be an AV or an early 75 with AV parts. It could be an AV in a 75 stock. It could be a lot of things!!!!!

All of this will let us know pretty much exactly what you are looking at, and if its authentic or not. One picture would help!!!

I have not seen this firearm in over 10 years and will see in the next few days....guy wants to sell to me. I sighted it in years ago for him....don't remember Red recoil pad but maybe remember lighter colour stock. No rib along barrel from memory....just know it was an upgraded version over standard models of that time. Will try to get pic although he wants to sell and if I drive there may want to purchase on site......that's why looking for approximate value. Glossy stock from what I remember.
 
Being that it's in 375, and a bit rare I'll throw out a $1000 to $1200 on the deal side. Anything more than that, and you'll be in fair price territory. They are a beauty of a rifle, and once you see it again, you'll want to take it home!

It sounds like a Sako Deluxe with some engraving on the floor plate, upgraded wood and an ebony tip fore end. There are different models. As new condition I would list it for sale at $1850 - $2000 It is very hard to determine value without pics model # etc. Estimated value in this regard is not necessarily what someone is going to pay. P.S. Check to ensure that there are 2 recoil lugs. If there is only one the stock may have been switched.
 
I believe the previous poster is referencing the dual 'cross bolts' (not locking lugs) which Sako typically uses on the heavier calibres to reinforce the stock. One will be obvious as it will be around the area of the forward action recoil lug (ie at the forward end of the action) and similar to what you would see on most older wood stocked Sako's. The large calbres 'typically' have a second cross bolt around the rear of the action. It may or not be apparent though. One of my Sako's in 375 has the second crossbolt which can be seen...the other is a. 338WM that has the second crossbolt but it has been inset and capped with a thin 'plugs' of wood which have been checkered to blend in with the stock checkering. Close examination easily reveals where this has been done...but it is a nice touch that Sako's are deservedly well known for.
 
It has a slightly engraved Gazelle surrounded by leaves on the floor plate and leaves the same way on trigger guard. Serial # starts A III
Firearm is in excellent condition as it has minor "sweat stain" on one of the cross bolt covers and minor spot one underside of for-end that you can tell it was rested on something.
Looking for approximate value as I'm looking to trade or sell as I now have in my possession. Was looking to sell to Cabelas if I get what I want.
Hopefully I can get on EE soon as I have requested twice and still nothing lol.....Do I have to become a paid member?
