So indulge me. I'm supposed to be cleaning up my shop, but my mind is wandering because I can't shoot this weekend.
So if the current scourge of government was gone and sanity returned, and stores had .308 AR platforms, what would you want.
I missed out on a BCL 102 when they were available, but I know they had their haters. What's likely to be available and affordable. If you're reading this and getting ready to comment on how it will never happen, please go blow it out your ear. I want to think happy thoughts.

ATRS modern Hunter, or ideally a scaled up Modern Sporter.

I’d probably buy a super premium AR10 of some sort too.

I dunno if enough of the MK7’s got out there and wrung out to really see if they got it right on the seventh try.

I’ve given NEA/BCL enough chances over the years myself and have zero interest in their products now.

Not that they were available prior to OIC, but the fact they have their own footprint, something like the POF Revolution or the Ruger SFAR would be pretty cool if the importer put in the work to make sure they came in NR.

Of the stuff available prior to OIC, Stag 10 would be my pick. I'm done buying Canadian guns given the past 5-6 years of trash.

How about barrel length and trigger? Do regular AR triggers work in the AR 10 sized platform? I would class the GI trigger as unusable, so I have a couple of guns with Hyperfires in them as they weren't super expensive.
How much do you lose with an 18 1/2" barrel v a 20" or more? Is it worth the extra weight for an all around plinking and hunting rifle? I've been tempted to buy a Savage 10TR for longer range plinking, but If I could do it with an AR platform it would be more fun. I have an AR 15 sized platform with a 20" match barrel and I love it.

18" would be as short as I go in 308 unless you have some specific type application. On that note, there is a good InRange TV comparison between a short barrel 308 and 7.62x39. For 6.5 creedmoor, I probably wouldn't go shorter than 20" but that's my personal hair splitting preference.

An 18-19" 6.5 Creed will generally easily push a 140 to 2650fps which gives you the same performance in the wind as you get with a 26" .308 pushing a high BC 175gr (think RDF or ELDM) at 2750ish. Makes for a pretty potent, handy rifle.

Generally AR triggers work, the geometry is the same, but some triggers don't have enough hammer energy for some guns to be reliable.
