In my experience, you want approximately 1.4"ish inches from rail to centerline of your optic on an Ar10-pattern rifle. Prevents you having to cheek-hump the stock. So regardless of what optic you put on, you may need a riser
that's what i was afraid of, if i put an optic on, the frnt a-2 style post is the way, and in order to install a cheek-riser, after using a rail 3/4 riser, i would have to change the stock as well. oh well.
The standard ACOG mount is about 1.5" above rail . An AR-10 rail is about .150 higher than AR-15
I wouldn't worry about the additional height ...I use std 1.5" Larue mounts for both Aimpoint , ACOG and magnified scope with LR-308
Finding the 1.4 inch unitized mount is harder . Badger makes one as does ERA Tac
I'm running an ERA that is 1.36" high and it works fine
Don't worry about the FSB ....it has nothing to do with the proper cheek weld / scope centering height . Regardless if you have fixed FSB or not, you still need the 1.4"
FYI - ACOG with FSB is fine....you may find it distracting but its in the bottom 1/3 of the scope anyways
