I want to get a .22 conversion kit for my AR-15 but I’ve heard good and bad things about them. Anybody have one or know anything about them?

I am looking at getting on of these kits as well. I was on a site the other day reading up on them and it seems that the ones made by CIENER are the ones to go with. I have seen them on the Brownells website.

I have the ciener

I did need to replace the recoil spring (in the .22 kit) with an aftermarket as it had bad feed problems but does have 30 rns mags........

apparently the company is NOT interested in canadian sales

Does anyone have any info on these 22 Uppers?

They look pretty good. I wonder if it would be possible to import them here.

i just got the ciener kit and some Black Dogs mags. i used to have both the ciener and the M261 kit years ago. nothing but problems in my rifle.

with the cost of 223( and me a cheap bastard) i just bought another ciener. yesterday i was at the range for the first time with it. the first 120 rounds had about 10 FTE. the next 120 had only 3. the kits get better with more use.

the only downside to the 30 round mags is that your fingers really start to cramp after the second mag.

I have had a Ciener kit and a DPMS dedicated .22LR upper with free float tube. For plinking the Ciener kit is great. Every once in a while you need to shoot some .223 to clear out the lead build up in to gas tube. But generally speaking they work great.

My dedicated .22 upper is a whole different animal. The biggest difference is that I can use it for competition since it has a proper .22 1:16 twist barrel. It shoots 1/2"-3/4" groups at 50 yds so it can compete with the other decked out semi auto .22's.

Depends on what you want to do. Cieners are $150-200 and the upper is +$850. For me it was the only way to go. Check out AR15.com in their AR15 rimfire section. There is alot of info there. One draw back is that you can only get .22 uppers in the states so you might have to get Questar to order it for you.

Just put a WTB on the EE for the Ciener Kit, I did. And someone responded. It fit too long in my 14.5 upper, so I just shaved off a few mm's from the ass-end of the boltcarrier until the upper mated with the lower perfectly. I also shaved off just a hair from the front-the chamber - just enough so that the ejection port cover pin fit matched up with the grooved allowance on the bolt carrier. Oh yeah, even though it functions flawlessly with federal bulk pack from walmart, I still have lakeside spring on order. and some BDM full size mags.

I think I might do a pictoral review of the #### I done to get it working in my ar. Now, to get a fake can from MFIAP and shoot some CB longs or subsonics and voila, tacticool simulated silenced ar.
