So who's using these? I'm thinking once again of a Ceiner, CMMG, etc conversion and Black Dog mags.

What's cleaning like?

Do you get a real training aid when you're using rimfire?

Do you actually get real use out of it or do they sit in the gun room while you're off shooting 223 (I already have a 9mm upper)?

They get a bit dirty. The Spikes Tactical one has some seals that help reduce the fouling of the chamber.

Trigger time is trigger time.

I can afford to dump a few hundred rounds of 22 on a regular basis.

very dirty its a .22

i use the ciener kit they work or they dont..... mine works perfectly

I use the black dog mags they also work perfectly

I use it in my 16a1 upper with the 1/12 twist

I had an atchisson (pre Ceiner) that work great, I almost regret selling it. Be aware of your barrel twist as a 1/7 (like mine) wasn't terribly accurate.

I have the ciener I got off the EE. It was a few mm too long for my upper, so I just put it to the grinder until it fit. After taking the auto polish and dremel to the sliding surfaces and replacing the springs with extra strenght lakeside machine ones, it functions fine with valuepacks as well as the remy subsonics. obviously it won't cycle any CBs.

At my range, I can't shoot pistol at the rifle range or vice versa, so this was a quick fix for me to shoot rifle at the pistol range. Perfect for working on transitions. Not so great on working with follow shots. I have 3 BDM mags with the follower upgrades from Questar, and they feed and lock back good.

Yes it gets dirty. meh, run a patch of CLP through it, fire a 556 round and gtg.

I have an old Atchisson kit, it functions great but accuracy sucks in every upper I've tried it in. All the conversion kits have massive amounts of freebore, and most uppers have far too fast a rate of twist for the .22 LR. A dedicated .22 upper like the Spikes Tactical unit would be the way to go, if anyone sold them here (do they?).

I got the old Atchisson version as well. Feeds and fires great. We use it at the indoor quite often. I give my AR a good scrub down after use and quite often go over to the main range to cycle a box of .223 through the system to clean out the gas tube. Main thing is just to keep them clean. 40 grain copperplated Federal work just dreamy in my set up. 36 grain not as good.

Dirty - yes. Finicky - occasionally. Worth it - Most likely.

If you get a kit, be prepared to play match the ammo for a while. The kits are typically highly fussy with what they will reliably cycle.

I run a M 16 Ciener kit with Black dog mags in my M4 and can run most 22 LRs out of mine. I have noticed that the PRI Gas Buster cocking handle causes operating problems with the Ciener as it cause to much drag on the bolt but the original Colt Cocking handle runs great

I have one of the Tactical Solutions AR-22 uppers. Vast majority of the .22LR (including the dirt dirt cheap) feed no issues, the only consistent feed problem I had were with the Winchester '333' boxes.

Haven't had any problems with the Black Dog Machine magazines, and I stuff them to the brim every time.

Something I've been wondering is if anyone's seen a 22LR conversion that works with the forward assist? Pretty much the only time I ever need that thing is when I'm using crappy 22LR with the conversion unit.

I believe the old "Colt Conversion Kit" does allow the use of forward assist. Atleast it did when I use mine before I broke my mag.
