AR-15 7.69 x 39 muzzle brake question?

I use a PWS FSC-30 on my mutant. It's great and works as advertised. Grab it from Questar.

it is no louder to the shooter than with no muzzle device attatched as measured with a decibel meter, so where are you getting your info from?

In no way did I insinuate that a liner brake makes the rifle quieter to the shooter than if shot with nothing attached to the muzzle

A regular muzzle brake will increase the decibel reading to the shooter of any given rifle

No. 7.62 brakes are threaded either 5/8"-24 or 3/4"-24. 5.56 muzzle devices are threaded 1/2"-28. Make sure you get something that fits, don't get any 5.56 muzzle device and drill the bore hole bigger just to realize that the threads aren't even the same.

Edit: As for 7.62x39mm AR-15s they might be threaded 1/2"-28, 1/2"-36 or something else depending on what manufacture. Make sure you know what you have first and then select your muzzle device.

Well, you said you hunt and don't want to worry about hearing protection. See below.

Anything more powerful than a 22 rimfire will expose the ears to damaging levels of sound. A linear brake will not alter that fact.

I get my info from ten years of sound testing firearms as per Mil Std 1474D.

and the fact remains that I do not worry about hearing protection while hunting with a linear brake like I do when using a traditionally braked rifle out hunting.

Many people hunt without hearing protection and that is what I was talking about, your opinion is not going to change that fact or what my post actually meant.

A linear brake will not expose you to a louder report from the same rifle/caliber like a traditional brake will.

But please continue to tell us what my post really meant, you clearly know better than the guy who wrote it

A 30 caliber and the .22 caliber muzzle brakes are different animals and have alternate thread sizes to prevent individuals from hurting themselves or others around them. "DO NOT" alter any firearm device that is intended for another application.

So, because you FEEL that a linear brake is quieter (for the shooter) than a traditional brake you are going to argue with a guy who has spent the last decade actually using a sound meter and testing firearm sound levels?

No, as I said earlier, A linear brake is not louder than having no muzzle device as tested with a decibel meter. A traditional brake is louder to the shooter. Feel free to do your own testing as I have.

The person took my post to mean something it did not. I am not arguing with what testing he does. He can bring out his gear and test my rifle if he wants to verify my findings
