Hello Black rifle gods,:D

Just ordered a DD M4, also thinking about building a DMR-ish rifle, and just cuiorous: what is the best bipod setup for these bad boys (have picatinny forearms)? I might also want to use the bipod for the M305 Norinco. The intent is to use it for service rifle/action shooting etc (military-ish, I doubt I would ever need/be able to use one of these overseas). From the search so far Tango Down and Vltor seem to be good bets, followed by Harris/Versapods?

Thanks again, and please be gentle! (Bipods are for the weak! But I'm kinda weak:p)

What models of bipods work best for the AR15? The upper would be free-float...

Dude

i don't have much experiences with bipods but considering the low recoil I would say any of the types you mentioned would be ok

if your serious about SR welcome to the sport

You wont be allowed to use bipod for service rifle. For action shooting, you may consider a grip-pod. The concept is interesting, but I cannot attest to the durability.

I think I may have to try that myself...

Depends on your CSM, but we had guys with custom bipods on their c7's, custom grips for m203's, etc, overseas. Now back at Battalion, it might be a different question...

We have an annual 223 F-class shoot in which I use my service rifle AR-15 with a harris on the bottom. Works fine. You can mount it with most any of the rail-sling adaptors(http://blackrifleworks.com/images/imagecache/100-99-YHM-9485S.jpg). There are also better systems out there specifically for Harris mounting. Larue makes one for example.

I have used a harris on a m14 in the past. Sling swivel screwed and glued though the front sling mount. It works, but it is a fast path to making a heavy gun too heavy to use.

Can't go wrong with the Harris, but the Vltor/TD is a much better system for the AR, it folds up tight against the hand guard with the feet resting out of the way by the delta ring,it also interfaces just as well with a quad rail system

Thanks for the advice, guess I'll try to get some shooting in this year in between posing in front of the mirror =)

I guess the trick is to organize a service rifle team to get the Crown to subsidize my shooting hobbies...

I am a cheapo and use the shooters ridge. Its a knock off of the harris. I use one on my SR-25 as well and it holds up fine.
