So I just received a brand new AR-15 open up the case, everything is looking good when I notice a big white splotch on the bottom of the magwell. I tried to wipe it off, it stayed put. Took out a micro fibre and some ballistol still can't get it off. Is this a blemish? Any help would be appreciated, this is my first AR-15 so I'm not too knowledgeable . It also has a decent amount of lower to upper receiver wobble and I can clearly see through the gap between the receiver. I have a photo of the blemish will upload one of the reciver gap later.
Thanks.

Brand new? Must be the picture but that thing looks used. Like around the mag release, but I think it's just the picture and flash. If it is brand new I wouldn't care about that splotch. I bet it'll wear off soon, if it's not actual missing anodizing then just try scraping it off

Yeah it's brand new, no wear there that's just a not oiled part of the receiver, and the lighter edge to mag release is the flash. I might be over reacting, but at the price point regardless if KAC primarily makes rifles for government and military this is a civilian rifle at at a premium costs. I'll try to see if I can scrap it off when I get home. More worried at this point about the amount of wobble but from what I read that's normal in the ar platform.

Upper to lower slop is pretty typical on mil spec Ars from what I've seen. It needs a bit of play to be able to work with a variety of mfg parts. Shouldn't really affect anything since the barrel, bolt sights, etc are all on the upper together. How's it shoot?

Ok sounds like I'm probably just going full OCD on this and I have nothing to worry about. I haven't had a chance to take it to the range yet. Just received it today. Going to be getting some rounds through it Sunday.

Yeah I'm not terribly happy about the splotch and I'm not sure how to scrape it off without damaging the reciver. I ran my nail over it and it still did not budge. Any tips on how I can find out if that's a screw up on the rifle or just some weird gunk thats stuck? There's also that other bit directly above the lower magwell splotch.

Don't do anything else to the gun. Contact the retailer you bought it from. Something like this should not have been shipped out in the first place, unless it was advertised as being blemished. If it was the official KAC retailer, he is reasonable and will no doubt help.

Personally I wouldn't care about a small spec as that but that is me. I use my rifles and they get beat up for character anyways.

I purchased a new AR that had the smallest little knick in it that had no protection. Since my guns get used in all conditions, I viewed this as reducing the life of the receiver. The retailer sent me a new one. That was nice

I agree with this, KAC are suppose to be a superior product and the price reflects that. You will see that spot everyday and that will drive you nuts.
Get spay paint and hide it. There is a well known story of a shooter who was asked to throw his rifle down in the dirt by a an infamous tactical trainer an when he was refused he was given his money back and told to leave. It's a rifle and not a motorcycle or any other pretty piece of hardware. But again that is me and the more beat up an AR is the better it looks.

That's true and it is a valid point. For me it's a cost / benefit thing. ARs are aluminum upper-lowers so even if it was raw it won't corrode so waiting the however many days or weeks for a replacement just isn't worth the hassle for something that made to handle explosions and will get blemished From normal use. But I do understand treating new expensive guns with kid gloves and I'm guilty of it. This is with a grain of salt as to what's acceptable and I know that is different to everyone.

I understand this, and by no means is the rifle going to be completely kept clean, but if it's going to wear battle scars I want to be the one to put them there. Not receive a brand new rifle with birthmarks. Like I said maybe I'm being OCD but I'm having the stuck pixel effect and now that I've seen it it's all I see.
