AR-15 Buffer and Spring question...

Dry. The last thing you want is an abrasive paste (lube and dirt) being worked back and forward in your buffer tube. At least, that's the classic answer, I believe that was the designers intention.

Don't be mucking the spring/buffer with lube...not needed. You can run the BCG pretty wet...they seem to like it that way :D

You should be focused on sight alignment/sight picture, trigger squeeze and follow through, not the noise generated by the spring. To each their own I guess.

If the noise of the spring was bothering him, wouldn't reducing it help him do what you suggest?

Besides, most people like feel of a smooth gun...

If the spring is enough to break your concentration you need to learn to focus. Sight alignment, trigger squeeze, and follow through do not require input from your ears.

It seems simple to me. One less thing in my bubble is one less thing to exclude from my bubble while shooting.

I said what I do and why I do it.
Take it or leave it.

Fair enough, but the increased risk of stoppage due to collected debris on the spring seems counter productive.
