AR 15 Failure to Extract

Just fired a new AR15 build for first time and the cartridge failed to eject.

The bolt did rotate...but the brass seemed to be stuck. Had to knock it out with carbon fibre rod.

The primer was not flattened...no sign of damage at the head.

Noticeable wrinkling near the mouth of the cartridge. Could this just be the result of a dry chamber?

How well did you clean your chamber ? Get an AR chamber brush and give it a good scrubbing with cleaning solution (I use g96), sometimes grease and bits get left over from the manufacture. Mine wouldn't extract and tore the rims off cases they were so stuck until I did that on a Faxon barrel.

Damage to the mouth could be from removal with a tool.

Get a new HD extractor spring and a doughnut buffer for it.

Also I guess I should ask if you head spaced and are using a proper 5.56. Chamber and not a .223 with a 5.56 round.
 
If you have access to other known to function ARs (buddies or your own), take them all out to the range, and start swapping one part at the time until FTE stops. This is how I figured out my FTE problem last time.

I started out by swapping bolt. If the bolt from my rifle causes FTE in buddy's rifle, then it's probably weak extractor on my bolt. Otherwise, if buddy's bolt also causes FTE in my rifle, then it's either going to be gas system (including buffer spring/weight) or barrel.
Proceed to swap the buffer spring/weight to eliminate it from the equation. Then the last thing is going to be the barrel. It's important to use the same mag for the test to control variables.

My guess is weak extractor, as that's probably 90% of the FTE problems.
