AR-15 Golf Ball Launcher?

Back in my home town the trap range is right next to the golf course. In fact, we'd often shoot trap on the golf course driving range because they had picnic tables set up.

Now I want to finish my golfball launcher.

Just curious.

How difficult would it be to build an insert for the M204 grenade launcher that you could mount under the AR upper?

Can you get empty 40 mm grenade shells and add a golf ball insert?

Just thinking Hmmmmmmm... I wonder if.....

Golf balls are generally larger than 40mm. American regulation golf balls can be no less than 1.68 inches in diameter. British are golf balls are 1.62".

40mm converts to roughly 1.575".

so i just went to the range with my golf ball launcher from marstar (34.99).

pros of the unit:

-cheap (as far as AR stuff goes)
-solid construction
-uses golf balls which are cheap and often free

cons:

-its a very heavy muzzle attachment, and the upper wont hold its zero when installed. i didnt try to zero the rifle with the launcher on though. maybe next time.
-.223 blanks arnt exactly easy to find, i had to ask around for nearly a month before 19 landed on my doorstep thanks to a buddy.
-you have to keep the rifle at an upward angle, or the golf ball rolls out

so I arrive at the range, only other person there is an old duffer sighting in a deer rifle, i uncase my AR and he stops shooting to watch me, then i pull out the golf ball launcher and thread it on to the muzzle. He asks "what is that, a silencer....those are illegal you know". I told him it was a golf ball launcher and he got a great big grin on his face and walked over to my bench.

i loaded a single (IVI) blank into the mag, and hit the bolt release, no dice. the crimped blanks hung up on the feed ramp every time, so i had to finger them into the chamber.

so i drop in the golf ball, held the rifle at an angle pulled the trigger and adios! the ball must have went 75 yards up and three hundred yards out.

now the old fellah wants to try, in all, we launched 10 today and im still smiling from ear to ear as im sure he is as well.

is it worth it? at less than 35 bucks i think its a pretty cool toy for my AR and i would buy it again, the biggest short comming is sourcing blank ammunition. Maybe Johnone will try to source some and sell them as a package (wink wink, nudge nudge).
