I wish to put a hand gaurd on a ar thats not a quad. Just the basic polymer one i dont want a bunch of rails all over the place. Also it keeps the weight down. Thank boys...

Are you building one, or do you already have a quad rail? I know you can buy the rubber handguards that slide over the rails. On some of my rifles I prefer the "standard" grip versus a foregrip. The rubber pads are a nice alternative to buying a new forend.
