Can anyone provide the size (length, thickness, diameter, etc.) of the piston retaining spring for an AR-15? I put the piston in wrong and the spring came out and is now lost, I do have the cap.

It would help if that part name existed. Maybe a parts diagram and tell us which part?

Do you mean buffer retaining spring? To keep the buffer and spring in the buffer tube? Sits under a buffer retainer (cap)? You’d have lost it while installing the buffer tube?... couldn’t be that I guess, it’s not a piston. Don’t be mad at us if you don’t know what the parts are called, they won’t know what you’re talking about over there either lol. If you want to learn let us know.

You also posted the original inquiry midday and midweek, not a lot of traffic at that time.

After all that, I still might send you the spare I have.

AR-15 piston retaining pin?
What brand of gun are you talking about? AR-15's don't normally have a piston and if they do it's a proprietary part from the manufacturer.
So no, no one can take two minutes to measure a spring that you are not describing properly and non one knows what you are talking about.

How about some more detail?
Since you don't sound like you really know what you're talking about how about a picture to help us figure out what it is you're looking for?

seriously no one can take two minutes and measure a spring? Ok thanks guys, maybe Gun Owners of Canada will be a more receptive forum.

I think the OP is asking about the spring in a piston driven AR. Don't know for sure because OP sucks at describing what they're actually looking for. If it's for a piston driven AR it's probably some nonstandard spec that's different between each manufacturer.

:weird: Pretty much sums up my thoughts on this. We have someone who asks about a part that doesn't exist, then gets huffy when no one replies. Very odd. The closest thing to a piston spring in an AR is the recoil spring, but I've never heard of anyone losing one - not saying it isn't possible, just that I've never heard of it.

well i though the buffer is what he meant.... it looks a bit like a piston.... is there really a retaining pin on an piston ar piston?
lol

I sometimes enjoy threads like this. Stupidity and sarcasm all in one place for my viewing pleasure.

I love when guys get indignant because you don't know WTF they are talking about and they have no interest in trying to find out WTF THEY are talking about so you can understand...

Paraphrasing my friend here, but "It's like they go to a restaurant and refuse to look at the menu and get pissy when the restaurant says they don't serve what the customer is asking for"

How about cool your tits? You didn't give the model of the piston driven AR, considering 90% of the AR15s out are DI. So we are suppose to guess what piston upper AR you own?

Then wondering why you're not getting any help...

Welcome to CGN, let me look at my crystal ball.
