hey everyone, just wondering what you guys recomend for primary iron sights. Im pretty old fasion and dont care much for red dot and scopes. Also whats your take on flip ups are they fairly reliable? or more of just back up? any imput would be awsome thanks all.

I had a Matech folding rear sight on one of my AR's, for some reason, which I can't recall now!! I replaced it with an ARMS 40L folding BUIS. I prefer the metal ARMS sights over the polymer units.
I have a F & R set of Troy folding on my other AR.
The Matech, ARMS and Troy BUIS are all good folding sights.
I prefer the over the Troy sights a bit more than the Matech and ARMS, but I think it's just personal preference.
I'm not sure about Matech, but I know ARMS and Troy are both available from local vendors.

You said "primary" sights. Are you planning to just have iron sights?
If you are planning to only have iron sights then why not use the issue type sights? The A2 rear and the fixed front with a thinner post (something in the size of 0.030-0.050") will work well out to 300 metres.
Solid, reliable, simple and inexpensive. If your AR did not come with iron sights then DPMS and LMT offer iron sights that are similar to the issue sights.

Daniel Defense 1.5 series fixed sights are the way to go.
Buy an AR carry handle, it has original irons, 2 different apertures and windage/elevation adjustment.
I used to see a lot of US Marines in Afghanistan/Iraq with A1 style carry handles mounted on the underside of the hand guard as a back-up to the ACOG.
