AR-15 problem

Hello.

I've had a weird problem with my AR-15. It had happened the other day and never happened before. When i fire the first round it all goes off fine, but the second round jams. It jams right in the mag and the bullet gets driven right inside the casing. Upon clearing the jam, the remaining 3 rounds may fire with no problem. It happens intermittently, i.e. i may fire the entire 5 rounds with no hitch, but the second load of 5 may cause the similar jam. I've got only 1 mag so far, so i can't determine for sure, if it's just a mag problem. The mag is almost new, less than 150 rounds through it. Did anyone have the similar problem with AR? Would it be just a mag problem?(I hope) Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the magazine. Have you stripped it and cleaned the components?
Make sure you have the spring in correctly as well.

I had this problem with my C mags. The follower isn't coming up level, and as a result the round doesn't clear the mag. SO when the bolt moves forward to jams the round into the front of the mag.

If you took the mag apart, make sure you put the spring in EXACTLY the way it came out. They go in different ways, but only one way ensures the proper angle on the follower (at least in C mags).

I convert mine to hi-caps when I am in the US, and when I rivet them (BEFORE I come back) I ALWAYS screw a few up.

If you haven't taken it apart, do so and see if the spring is in right from the factory.

That's right, I've used Win 45 gr. hollow point ammo. However, it's first time ever I've got this problem. Well, it's only been 150 or so rounds fired through this gun and mag. Mag was absolutely new when i bought it...
Here's how the mag is pinned(same thing on both sides). I guess, there's not much chance of taking it apart...

easy to take apart but forget it. DO NOT use this ammo its not safe in AR. what do you think would hapen if you chambered on of thoses round that got its head pushed in the case ??? use FMJ 55gr and up criped rounds

what Jamie was trying to say is that the white box varmint ammo doesn't work very well in ARs (the hollow point catches on the mag or feed ramp) and you should stick to FMJ or ballistic tip style ammo....

D, to the ammo, try the Federal 50HP, it's crimped and has a cannalure and is accurate. I won't say "I told you so" about that 45JHP WWB. ;)

Some good advice about the mags above.

I shoot 77 and 75gr HP out of my SPR but they are crimped

Gentlemen,
Thank you for your help, so i know now that the problem lies mostly with the ammo and possibly mag.
P.S. Hey, dangertree, now i remember you saying something about that ammo. I just wasn't listening...........It's so cheap, i couldn't help.....

On the mag issue, my mags had the springs in wrong, the part that normally gets inserted into the follower was cut thus making it possible to put the spring in the wrong way.
