Hi,
I'm new to Restricted rifles and I am thinking about getting an AR-15.
I was hoping that I could get a few suggestions on what rig I should start with?
Obviously a Norinco is appealing because of it's low cost.... But should I spend a couple more bucks and get something that might be a lot better?
Thanks!

I was looking at a Nork, but bought a DPMS Oracle... it feels VERY nice, and shoots like a house on fire. But read that thread. It does help. Sometimes Less $$ spent on the gun means more to spend on ammo. But there is a balance point where a crappy gun that can't shoot straight worth a damn is more frustrating than a tack driver that you can't afford to feed.

My norinco shoots straight as an arrow, also allowed me to get more ammo to improve my skills and wouldnt be devastated if the ar-15 went prohib. Just saying.

The S&W M&P15 Sport is also under $1000. Ruger SR556E can be had for under $1200. if you look hard enough. For most folks, one AR15 ends up being 2-3 in the safe shortly after. lol

I bought a da556 when they were on super sale for 599 from ca. Seems decent enough and shoots better than I can. Plus I don't worry too much if it gets some dings and you can toss the extra few hundred on a case of norinco ammo to practice fishing primers out of your locking lugs... :nest:

Just don't buy a Chinese AR and you will be fine. Figure out your budget and then shop around till you find one dressed up the way you like. Everything can be changed so as long as it's a decent quality rifle all accessories will fit without modification.
It starts with one then you buy another upper then the next thing you know you have 3 complete rifles and you are still looking for more to add to the collection.
Don't rule out the EE, there are lots of great deals on there for some really nice rifles. You will never wear out a receiver or lower so even if it has 10000 rounds down the pipe it doesn't matter, a quick barrel swap for $200-$500 depending what you want and it's like new again. The little wear parts like gas rings and springs are cheap.

A couple more bucks is a relative term. You really need to decide how much money you want to spend first. Then you'll know if you can have a real AR-15 or one of the hordes of clones.
Your club rated for restricted rifles?
