AR-15 Safe Transport, Question...

Soon to aquire my first AR15, and a first time "restricted" weapon owner, i need the skinny on safe transport to and from the range.


Would i be safe with this set up ???

-Unloaded,
-cable lock through the mag-well and ejection port,
-Locked Hard Case


The bolt can be with the rifle correct ????

Does the ammo have to be in a seperate locked case ??? or just a case ???

Some gun nutz words of wisdom would be great !!!!:)

You got it right, double check in the legalease section
Ammo has to be in a separate case, but don't have to lock it
No problem with the bolt in, cable lock or trigger locks are good to go, and as you said, locked case

As long as it's not loaded in a firearm, ammo can be rattling around in your trunk if you wanted - unless someone can point to (or cut/paste) the regs regarding transport of ammo (with or without firearms).
 
Ammo can be Transported in the same case aslong as the the restricted firearm is unloaded and rendered inoperable by a secure locking device.
and in a locked apaque container and out of sight.
Ammo can not be stored with a restricted firearm unless it is in a safe or a room specifically designed for the storage of a restricted firearm and not easily broken into.So ,Transportation is ok Storage is not.
 
I have a nice uncle mikes tactical bag for my shorty Ar-15 is a perfect fit... has 3 pouches to hold you 5/30 mags and a pocket at the front where I keep my paperwork, I trigger lock and have a combo lock on the soft case nice because its got a shoulder strap so you can carry more guns into the range at the same time. Might want to check out your favorite shooting store for uncle mikes tactical cases

I transport all my ammo for range trips in a 50 cal steel ammo box

So a "Soft" lockable case is ok ????? for a restricted weapon ????
 
Well, it can be argued 'till the cows come home, but it is easily broken into with a sharp box cutter as I see it. Also the law speaks of a container, these zipper cases, to me, are bags. However, it is some form of a container I'm sure.

From my interpret of the law, I wouldn't be 100% comfortable with this type of case for transports.

i remember my firearm instructor told me,
restricted firearms have to be trigger locked, and locked in a hard case,
and the guy from reliable guns who sold me my first soft tactical case
told me that its not good for restricted firearms transport...
better be safe than sorry....
 
The regulations refer to a locked, sturdy, opaque container.
A box cutter that could open a soft case could also open many plastic hard cases in about the same length of time.
I have never heard of any instance where this case or that case or the other case was deemed unacceptable.

Thats the case I use to carry the midlength that lives inside. I run a small lock through both ends of the zipper loops that is nice and secure. To open it you would either have to use bolt cutters or some solid wire cutters to break the lock, or grab a knife and attempt to cut through the side of the case (its some nice nylon so they'd have to give it a few slices and stabs :D) and then they have to get past the trigger lock. Anyways, my point is if they needed a tool to try and get into the case your GTG.

Unless your using a pelican (or some other VERY sturdy case) than it tasks less time to stomp on your cheap plastic case, and break the hinges, then it does to cut open a canvas case..

but then again logic is was applied to storage and transportation regs were created.
 
I use Skb Military spec hard cases for my pistols they take up to much space to store when not in use. A friend of mine uses uncle mikes range bags to transport his 2 STI's worth 4000 dollars each.

With the right tools you can break into a 10000 dollar vault.

Is It possible to get an ATT for more then 1 location at once ?????????


Would like some help on this one to,


lets say i wanted to bring my restricted rifle to my friends.... could i get an ATT for my friends house, as well as the range ??


Thoughts? ??
