AR 15 "spex" PDW stock

I have never seen the inside of a real port firing weapon so I can't comment on how they work. The SPEX PDW stock does not use any kind of buffer.

So its 2 inches shorter, great? How about the non-existant cheek weld? Looks like a .300 blackeye waiting to happen

I don't have the stock here to measure but with the removal of the buffer, it is closer to 3 - 3.5 inches shorter.

To be honest I didn't like the stock much when it was first built. I am 6' 2" and found it very short for my liking. However once you spend some time playing with it the thing grows on you and you find there is an acceptable cheek weld. I have fired it with full power 556 and 300 Whisper 200gr subsonics on FA and found it to be just fine.

It is now my favourite AR.

ATRS will never get a sniff at this product, that's for damn sure.

I don't want to start a pissing contest, but the Spex brand is 100% separate from ATRS.

This PDW system was designed 100% separately from anything ATRS has done, including some serious re-engineering of the AR15 internals to make it run with 100% reliability.

I'm shocked nobody is losing their mind over how short the buffer tube is on this PDW... this is the beauty of the telescopic stock in its present offering - it allows the weapon to be carried at a length roughly 8" shorter than a standard AR (this is my estimation; I may be +/- a few inches on the actual stats).

This modification does not come without serious ingenuity and serious re-engineering. I was gobsmacked at how well-built it was when I shot it.

Sweet Jesus, THANK you for pointing all this out...

If you have to ask why this is a revolution in AR-based PDWs, then you don't get what a PDW is used for (or in which type of situation).

PDW does not mean "shoots well from bench after much coddling."

This is a phenomenal leap forward, and I'm thrilled to see this collaboration materialize.

I think the reason that few are getting all worked up is that this means nothing for 99% of the shooters in Canada. We can't even carry an AR as a truck gun, so a slightly shorter toy for looking cool at the range isn't really much of a big deal.

AR PDW? Nice idea, but I would rather work on our laws to allow me to actually use that outside of a range first.

Don't get me wrong, I think a super compact AR in .300 Whisper (or Blackout, same difference) is very cool and will seriously consider buying one for my next AR. But I would be a lot more excited if I could use it as a truck gun and really appreciate the extra couple of inches lost with a clever bit of design. As it is, a standard telescoping stock works just as well for what I can use an AR for.

PDW that means cool looking for the range in french right??

Exactly the problem.

ARGHHH!!!

All this talk about how awesome this design is has got the engineer in me twitching to the point it's border line convulsing hahaha! I can't wait to see this and hopefully pick myself up one. :D
