Ar-15 Stoppage Vid

This was happening to me with some soft-point ammo the other day. I will have to watch this a few times as this guy talks either too fast or too low.

I ended up locking the bolt back and using an empty case against the rim of the stuck cartridge and tapping it out of the chamber.

Was this wrong?

That sounds like a symptom of something wrong, alright; do you recall if the rim of the round stuck in the chamber was torn through by the extractor, or did the extractor just "skip" the rim? I would normally drop the mag and cycle the action a few times to see if that'll extract/eject the case, and if that didn't work, then you'd have to either pry the round out from the chamber end (like you did) or use a rod from the muzzle to knock it out. Regardless, having this happen is usually either a symptom of bad ammo (soft brass), or an extractor/extractor spring that needs replacing.

It was definitely bad ammo. I dropped the mag and tried to cycle the action but the neither cartridge would budge.

I went back with some 62gr Winchester FMJ and had absolutely no failures.

He's just some guy. Clearly he's just trying to help out. If he doesn't do it for you, then no worries right?

Not to mention that for every drill he uses the WRONG hand to do the IA....guess the 'guide to the SF' book he read never specified...tard.

Just saw Hoddie's post...exactly.
