AR-15 triggers?

As you guys know, I'm getting back to the sport and doing a rifle build. Last time I was active, I ran an S3G and really had no complaints about it. Great trigger, if a little wasteful on ammo (just makes you want to dump every mag and put in a new one right away lol). I've seen some other triggers in that price range on the market now, and just wanted to get some info from the community if there's anything that's substantially better or similar but substantially cheaper or just stick with the S3G? Thanks in advance!

Intended use: 3gun matches, typically not past 150yds, the occasional IPSC rifle match if I go for a black badge refresher and they're still being held in Ontario

Man! You’re gonna get so many answers. Everyone has their favorite trigger! Feel is so subjective.

Personally, if you loved the S3G, stick with it. You can’t do much better than Geisselle.

I’m cheap and also didn’t want a super light trigger. I use the ALG-ACT trigger on my ARs. But I wouldn’t recommend it for action games like you want to play.

I have the S3G and compared to few others.... the s3g isn't the lightest but none had the same responsive and quick trigger.

If you stick to your original intended purpose: 3gun within 150m. I say the S3G is best. I also recommend the hyperfire competition as it has an insanely short reset.

I'd like to play with an ALG and it's definitely on my list for some other types of builds, but I knew right off the bat it's not for playing 3gun.

IIRC it was about 3-3.5 and that was fine by me. Very smooth and very responsive. If there's no avalanche of 'I've tried S3G and this other single stage and the other one blows it out of the water', I'll wait to snipe an S3G during the next AE sale lol

I just put a Timney AR impact trigger in my gun, though I haven’t tryed it at the range, it feels awesome.
Breaks like glass,3 lb pull and almost zero pre travel.

That one sounds interesting on paper and is barely cheap enough for me to seriously consider it.. Definitely will look into it. May snag one anyway just to test-drive it and can always drop it in another build.

Honestly the trigger tech diamond is my new favourite as well. Tried most other high end triggers on the market (and by tried I mean thousands of rounds on each)

Looks good, I'm just not very comfortable with 2stage triggers for anything other than reaching out. Matter of personal preference.

Have the Geisselle S3G trigger and it is excellent for the 3G and IPSC games I play. Also have the adjustable Trigger Tech in another rifle. Tough call and personal preference but think I might like the Trigger Tech a tad better.

Trigger Tech is one to look at as well.

I know Triggertech and Hipertouch have some high-end triggers in the same ballpark as S3G. Are they in the 'about the same, depends on the preference' range or are they head and shoulders above it?

Also, does Triggertech offer a single stage that's good for IPSC/3gun?

If I'm not mistaken all of TriggerTech's offerings are two stage.

Thanks. While I'd prefer a 2-stage for 'reach out and touch' kinda shooting, where I play 3gun, most rounds are at shorter distances and in shorter intervals, for which I prefer a single stage. We'll see how that RA-434 works out... It's either going into the PCC (if I don't like it as much as the s3g) or I'm getting another one into the PCC build.

Value wise the Rise Armament RA-140 is hard to beat, mine came with the springs in backwards though, the disconnector was way too stiff, swapped them to the proper positions and was surprised with how good it was vs the cost.

I just realised I ordered a 434 and not a 140.. Looks like they decided to go even better for not too much extra cash.. We'll see how she plays out.
