AR-15, Which one?

When I started looking into an AR15,I did a lot of reading
here.I ended up buying an early SP1 Colt in mint condition.
Three prong flash hider as obviously it will never be in the
bush.LOL Bayonet lug etc.I have been very happy with the
choice and have experienced no problems. It has fed any
store bought ammo I have put through it.I'm sure there
are other AR makers that build a fine rifle but I'm glad I
did my reading and damn glad I bought Colt.

Keep in mind you have a 1:12 twist and cannot shoot ammo heavier (longer) than 55gr safely (it wont stabilize and the flight patter will be erratic at best)

Thanks Kevin,55 grain is the heaviest I have shot.Rem/UMC
from Milarm. It was a good buy when I got it,500 rds worth.
The price is not as good as it was.Regards 375rum

LMT parks after assembly - which should form some sort of barrier.
That said the LMT's I have that are work guns have not been immersed in water.

HI
I had replied at another site about the same chart. I got off the phone with stag a couple of days ago. The gentleman on the phone wouldnt comment on stag making the m&p15 to which they do. But but but when I read to him the chart comparing the stag to the m&p and to the headings he had said yes to pretty much everything on the chart except a blue vs black washer (whatever that is). It was identical to the m&p.

Actually S&W is starting to more and more in house - and in some of the versions is using LMT parts vie Stag. The reason the M&P15T shows in that catgory is it has a LMT bolt - and the lower is NOT Stag (the S&W lowers dont fit PMAG's and are out of spec... - whereas the other M&P lowers based on Stag's fit the PMAG)

I think Walt can get you CMMG bolts which are spec as well...

The corrosion issue is missleading on the LMT. I think as KevinB mentioned above that with the park being added after mfg there is probably a fairly decent seal around the fsb which might inhibit some corrosion from taking place. Unless the gun was used or stored in a marine environment, I would think that it would be very hard to actually get anything other than flash rust forming-if you even got that.

IF somebody really wants to know and has the parts I can run a CCT B117 test on them and give you hard lab facts...

I appreciate all the input. There's been things mentioned that I really didn't
know. Seems I need to research more, but one thing I'm finding is that there
are several manuf. that keep coming up and alot of good things said about
them all.

Keepin in mind there are NO guarantees you wont get a lemon - however picking one that is best tested prior and has a lifetime warrantee will due the best to remove the lemon factor.
