The initial plan was all black but the black BG-17 was out of stock everywhere when I bought it so I'll admit that I might have some aesthetics work to do hehe.

tought about dying your grip? All it takes is a box of black fabric dye.
Tintex... they have it at the dollar store (and every grocery stores for twice as much)

Didn't think of that... Do you think it would be semi-durable? Having the fde grip doesn't bother me much either as I should hide it with my hand most of the time hehe.

I actually really like the two-tone look. The tough part is getting all the FDE parts to match though. I still can't figure out why FDE can vary so much between manufacturers and parts.

Well having worked in the plastic industry and still working in the chemical/polymer industry I can answer with my limited knowledge (which isn't more than anyone here). Depending on the parts, the manufacturing process might differ as the mechanical properties (stock vs rail panels) required for the items might differ quite a lot. The actual recipe might be different as well. And there is always the issue of the color particles provided by suppliers which can also vary quite a bit.

And I haven't touched the QC issue...

it is very durable, its not just surface coating, the dye literally mixes into the plastic so even if you scratch a mm deep it will still be black. It will not dye to the core but it is very durable. I have done allllllllot of stuff this way.
I know other guys on this forum have done so too since I found the idea right here

It's an airsoft gun[...]which I had it 24 k gold plated.

Wait, you paid actual dollars to get a fake gun and 6 fake mags 24k gold plated?

It's the closest thing to a real AK in Canada without spending 4 grand for a VH or a useless deactivated paper weight.

And how is your airsoft jewelry any different? At least a dewat has a history. Which to me is still more valuable than the ability to shoot plastic pellets.

Whatever floats your boat I guess...

there is an old saying that goes..... its my f-ing money, i can spend it on what ever the f i want. heck, the money might even end up into the local gold plater's kids college funds. who knows

and where is the history of a single deactivated AK (out of the 100 millions out there thats being use in wars? ) if there was a history to an real AK, it would be a shame to have it deactivated . my freaking toy probably made history of becoming the first gold plated airsoft gun in canada.

and its not like i dont dump a fair share of cash into my real toys.

i like shooting weather its a 6 mil pallet at my friends or 556 lead on card boards .
