Lol, ok, but looks good anyway, and KAC-ish money is still a lot of money, hahahaha!

So, lerch641 got it into my head to flat top that 20" build and eventually, that idea started to fester and I ended up doing just that:

I'd apologize but that looks great!

Got my retro furniture from Brownells - I think I'm going to pull the optic and put the carry handle back on. I am really
liking the old-school look.

How do they feel? Can you compare them with original sets at all?

I have owned originals, but it's been a while, so hard to straight-across compare. They feel very solid. I think (based on my possibly very faulty memory of the originals) the handguard halves actually fit together better then the originals I've owned, but the finish isn't as consistent - the back of both handguard halves looks a little "rippled", and the buttstock texture right by the sling swivel is a bit different than the rest of the stock on both the green and brown stock. These are the only issues, and they are minor. Overall well worth the cost though.

your BUS are on backwards

I couldn't pass up the deal at Arms East when I saw this. Its in the exact configuration I was looking for plus it was on sale!

Stag Arms 15
PCF (Paper City Firearms) 16" MLok front end
Nickel Boron BCG
Magpul MOE K2
Magpul MOE buttstock
ALG Advanced Combat Trigger

Thanks to Barry at Arms East for hooking me up!

Now the long process of waiting for the paperwork to take it to the range...

Until recently I thought i'd be fine with 14.5" as my shortest barrel length AR, but having had a 10.5" and 7.5" in the past, I had to have a 10.5" again!

I have a new bcg, charging handle and magpul mbus pro on the way.

Thanks to S&J Hardware:

Nice. Years ago I got rid of my 10", thinking I'd stay over 14.5".... but I now have a 7" 7.62x39 upper, and a 10", 10.4", 11", and 11.5", all in 5.56. The short ones are fun! I'll have to snap a pic or two of all the short ones together one day.

Well, it seems like I'm not into AR's

I stayed away for a long time, getting NR .223 semi instead...but I got an used AR for next to noting.
Don't judge me :) I only took the cheapest option available, the Norinco CQ-A, I kinda wanted to make sure I had one in case there's any changes in the law ^_^

Are they as bad as some say? I've been a Reservist for some time years ago and after finishing cleaning it ( got it today ) I can say right away that the build quality isn't the same as I was used to...
It's all in the details, it's noting obvious, there's no big red sign but I can feel it's not as well made. I guess I'll see at the range.

I don't plan doing anything fancy like competition, I just like the mechanism and it brings back some good memories.

You really shouldn't compare the Colt/Diemaco you used in the Reserves with a Norinco product that you own.

It's like driving an E class Mercedes at work and then complaining about the Kia Rondo you bought isn't as good. Your Norinco will be inferior in build and quality in every possible way.

:) yeah it's what I noticed at every step cleaning it for the first time, I knew what I was buying was far..way far from high end.
But I'm not comparing, I'm wondering what people had to say about it, in general, beside been along the cheapest AR available..

With the current weather I doubt I'll go to the range ( exterior ) so in the meantime I'm curious.
I mean they can't be that bad right ? :p They do shoot in the general direction of the target...no ? ^_^'

My Norincos have treated me great. They both function and shoot well. Obviously they aren't up to Diemaco standards but they were never designed or intended to be. I wouldn't hesitate to buy again for an entry level AR.
