Almost finished my new and very rare Mega Gator AR just need 2 more packages of Magpul rail covers, and find a good red dot system. from my last set up I have a 16" stag upper which I sold and replaced it with a new 11.5" HB upper from Alberta Tactical Rifle built on my Mega upper receiver. also added a Dlask XB1 flash suppressor.

An Eotech mounted on a plastic handguard would give me a double lack of confidence in the optic. Why not just mount it on the upper?

That's the first FTHB clone I've seen. Very keen little build you have there, my compliments. Can you tell us more about the barrel?

If he wants to have a C8SFW he needs to get that paint off the barrel, upper and lower. Mount the Eotech on the upper and paint the Handguards, grip and the stock green. But I suppose in it's present form it could be a JTF version....

well, for the barrel please ask joe at dlask. he got everything you need. for a hand guard and optic. this is a training gun for the US course. that's why i pick 16.5 inches profile barrel (C8 SFW looks good with 16-inches) and optic on hand guard. i go with set up that works for me and this actually works most of time.i dont like rails on my hands and i had optic failures in the course number of times (c more). the hand guard with a mini rail idea was from my ex USMC recon instructor.

It is just that it would be better on a two-piece metal handguard than plastic.

An "ex USMC recon instructor" told you to put your primary optic on a rail on a a piece of plastic that wont hold a zero?

Maybe thats why he's an "ex" instructor.

Other then the way the eotech is mounted it looks like an awesome rifle.

That's some odd advice. I'd have a difficult enough time just trusting the Eotech as it is. Mounting it on a plastic hand guard is just compounding the possibility of optic failure.
