AR-15's

Spent over 12 hours stripping, cleaning degreasing, stand blast and painting this over the weekend. Little too much orange than I had imagine. Gonna paint the controls and pins to burnt bronze to tone it down a little.

Definitely not my style but that is damn slick looking!

I'm looking to either build or buy my first AR-15. The problem is I have never built an AR and I need some guidance. I'm going through Red Deer Shooting Centre and the guy today said if I order all the parts, they'd build it for free. I just need a good reference sheet of what all I need to order. There's lots on the site in regards of single parts you can buy, but there's also full kits as well. Currently looking at basing my build off of the Radian Arms Overthrow lower. Either going this way or just going to purchase an F1 Firearms Mod1 or a DD MK18 10.3". Any guidance is good guidance and I appreciate any help!

My piece of guidance; build it yourself... even if it takes you two months. Always better to learn how to do things yourself. To start, look up AR15 build how to's on youtube.

Cheers

Just an opinion but I think you'd really enjoy and get a sense of accomplishment from building it yourself. And for all intents an AR is just Lego's for adults ;) Anybody would be happy to lend you the few tools that would make it easier and if you get stuck RDSC will be there to help.

And the experience you get goes toward certifying your Man Card ;)

Grinding the gaz block was scary but ended up not being that hard...

I got the rifle with a bushnell 1-4 AR optic, really wanted to sport it, but damn the thing is heavy and won't let me run the rear flip up properly... Will most likely continue with just a basic dot.
