AR-15's

ASDW-PIP now down to only needing a few incidental parts and some pro work...

Pistol not an SBR to keep it carry-permit legal; no brace until we get the ATF Jackboot BS with their impending attempt at a brace-ban sorted out. Once that's done I MIGHT consider an old-school SBM4, but that's more so I can stick a pouch with an onboard spare mag in the tunnel than as an extra point-of-contact.

Right now (other than WA's new Mag Ban keeping me from getting four EPM's for it) standard combat load for a GAU-5 is 4x30 or 120 rounds; with the added tenner in the well the PIP model goes up to 130, and a brace-tunnel 20 for a ready reload takes it to 150 rounds in the bag ready to rumble. Next concern is, any potential problems from leaving a BCG locked in Hold-Open for extended periods? (You have to lock the bolt open to rack a QRB-equipped barrel on, and the entire goal of this concept is to shave every possible second out from between "unzip" and "bang.")

Not really any concern mechanically, other than ingress of debris.

That's an impressive AR pistol. Seems to have a lot of steps from Oh $hit to sending rounds. I wouldn't feel confident with it until I have practiced deployment a lot, and yes eyes shut sometimes. Remember when $hit goes wrong the brain stops working right and the training kicks in.

Cheers

With it living in its own bag I could probably skip the caps and take it to "unlatch front half, lock barrel, pop sights, drop bolt, safety off, blam." I need to find a range that will let me start doing time-trials for the USAF standard vs "my way" for Elapsed Time To Bang--remember, the root design is an Aircrew Self Defense Weapon for pilots also carrying a sidearm.

Preliminary assessment...
StepUSAF StdASDW-PIP concept
1Grab first pieceGrab two coupled pieces
2Grab second pieceFlip lever and uncouple stowed forend
3Lock bolt open(bolt already open) Lock forend into place
4Lock forend into place(mag aready in place) Drop bolt
5Load magPop sights
6Drop boltSafety off
7Pop sightsBANG!
8Safety offGrab reload-mag placard
9BANG!Begin E&E procedures
10Futz with three more loose mags(already buggin' out toward extraction point)
11Begin E&E procedures(still creating distance...)

This is the concept anyway, execution mileage may vary and I need to get a team together for testing. In civilian use this is more a "discreet travel weapon" for hotel-room D without picking up undesirable attention carrying an obvious gun case through the lobby or out of your vehicle.

Better shot of the receiver.
Thought you might appreciate it.

And you're on the money re deleting anything in Canada's history.
Trudeau wants to be the next Sec Gen of the UN, so he'll sell all of Canada to get there.
It seems that every policy he creates is just a big hi five to the UN and their goals.
I'm sure that the NRA south of the border might put the blocks to him, once he's done destroying this country.

A little further tinkering on the M4... the PEQ-15 is an airsoft simulator for the range, it comes off once "play time's over" and it's time to get ready for Serious Work again.

C.'s enjoyed a nominal advantage in our rifles because her Eotech has a laser built in... when this came in I had to goof on Die Hard a bit. "Now I have a laser too, Ho-Ho-Ho!"

And clearance testing a revised coupler for the ASDW:

Game plan is to see if my pro smith can braze or weld two QD optic-risers together end-to-end for a closer coupling on the two halves.
