AR-15's

Call me old school, but I love the 20" uppers and A2 stocks. I love your guys shorty builds. I experimented with 16" and 14.5" builds, but nothing could stop me from going back to 20" barrels.

I am from the old guard. When I bought my first Colt AR-15, I used it for coyotes and gophers with 30 round magazines, legally. That should date me right there.

My current family:

At the top: DCM legal High Power National Match A4 complete upper receiver
- Free floated 20" 1/8" twist, air gauged, national match, stainless steel, bull barrel (barrel measures a full 1" under the hand guard).
- National Match rear 0.040" aperture.
- National Match front 0.050" post

On the bottom: M-16A4 "inspired" build
- Trijicon TA31F RCO ACOG.
- Rock River Arms upper, 20" barrel with Knights Armament RAS.
- Full auto bolt carrier
- Rock River arms lower with National Match trigger.

Nice Ar's, how much heavier is that NM upper compared to your M16A4 clone upper?

My first AR

Well, I finally got this gun together. When I stopped playing airsoft a few years ago I had just built a Troy M7A1 inspired AR that i dont even think i was able to use in a single game with this configuration. Going into the real steel version, there was little doubt what I wanted to build first. Took a while...and a lot of money but Im pretty happy I was able to build this gun looking very much like the replica considering in Canada we have the "get what you find" instead of "chose what you like" approach when it comes to shoping for parts. I didnt compromise much..beside the fact that there was no way in hell I would ve found a Magpul lower receiver so I moved on. I guess Ill have to find some spacers to get the KX3 aligned but appart from that, this project is done....for now :)

For those who are less familiar with some of these parts, heres the breakdown:
VLTOR MUR-1 upper
Knight Armament SR15 complete lower
LMT Enhanced BCG
PRI gas buster charging handle
Troy 7" MRF battle rail
Troy front and rear battle sights
Noveske 7.5" diplomat barrel with gas block
Noveske KX3 flash suppressor
Magpul Grip set, CTR stock, XTM panels, magazine and angled grip

The second pic is a shot of the airsoft version I based my project on. I dont know how many people actually try to copy an airsoft gun when building an AR but heh...it was worth it. :)

Hell of a first AR! Where did you score the SR-15 lower? Want one!

Actually, bought it off Boltgun here on CGN. Real happy with that find. Was gonna try and buy ambidextrous selector, mag release and bolt release on my other spike standard receiver when I stumbled on the add.... didn't hesitate long. :)

The interesting thing done to this rifle is, the ability to properly utilize the KAC RAS panels on this 6940 fore end, now.

Colt should have done it right from the factory. But Colt ain't known for doing the right thing. Probably more what the lawyers said to do, or not do. Especially with KAC options.
