While we're on the topic of 180B parts replacements... Has anyone done this, and if so, how easy or hard is it to do?

I am taking it up in a few months, will have it done once warranty wears off (about 7 months) and rebarreling with a 24" heavy barrel, I will get back to you and post about it once it's done. ;)

Just wanted to add, as an afterthought, that I've read about the heavy barrels for the 180B's on armalite.com, but have yet to hear from anyone that's ever installed one. So, looking forward to this, because it's one possibility I was considering.

Well it would be quite the exercise in machining. A new front sight assy that houses the gas port would have to be fabricated to accept the larger barrel.

The front sight assembly isn't that fancy. I could probably machine one up in an afternoon.

As for the barrel, standard AR15 barrels will work but you'd have to drill the gasport hole yourself as once headspaced in the AR180B barrel extension the hole probably won't line up vertically.

I am going to take the rifle to Ultimate Accuracy, this guy makes custom rifles from scratch and makes his own barrels so I'm sure he'd be able to put something together for it ;)
