The CQ-556 are great guns. Fantastic price, and a quality control that served its purpose and target audience/price point very nicely. They've been a huge success from what I can tell.

Too bad they're restricted.

Get Norinco, or a better yet, a Canadian company, to manufacture AR-180b copies at a similar retailing price, and you'll be rolling in your dirty, stinky, CGN-originating cash for the rest of your mortal life.

It would be like the Type-97, minus the RCMP's epic fail. The AR-180b is already a very well known unrestricted rifle. Undisputed, uncontested, and mostly avoid controversy.

You over estimate the market, by a lot.

Reverse engineering is not an simple task, but maybe one day. I have 20 or 30 new guns before I would even consider it.

Also, yes the AR-180b is uncontested, but the new version we would make may not be. The RCMP waits for such opportunities to say one is easy to convert. If they said ours was easy to convert ot FA, what would our answer be? No it isn't? Sue them?

On second thought, that wasn't very nice. In the future I'll stick to simply questioning the RCMP reviewers' lineage.

I'd buy a couple. If it were to ever happen metal recievers would be a nice feature.

Yes, all different. The FRT identifies the gun by number. make, model, manufacturer, bbl length, calibre, etc.
 
nice id be up for that piston driven and a adjustable gasblock reminds me of a cheaper xcr.

Seems very TWISTED that the AR-180 is a PROHIB and the AR-180b is NON-Restricted. What?!?!?!? Will there ever be an end to the insanity?

AR-180 is a variant of the AR-18 (Prohib by name). AR-180B is a redesign, making use of some AR-15 parts to remove parts compatibility with the AR-18, thus it is not a variant.

Actually, it is more about the wandering policy goals of the RCMP. Many guns which are true variants of prohibs are legal (180B, swissarms, scorpion, etc), while some guns which are not true variants are prohib (gsg5) or restricted (ar-15 .22 look-alikes).

Once cheapish black guns started making their way in, the RCMP tune changed quickly. They do not care about the $3000 guns, and they can't go after the common guns, like the SKS, so they focus on the new designs.
