AR-180b vs. XCR

Can anyone who owns or has shot both give some input on the accuracy of the 2. Is there a major difference in accuracy between them or are they similar in performance? Chris
 
from what i see there close to the same thing , your best bet it to buy the xcr if you have $2000.oo to spend. if not spend the 1000.oo on the ar18

i was told that the ar18 has a bit more accuracy
 
they're both good guns. Both are gas piston.

The xcr is twice is much. But it has full length rail, quad rail and flip up irons, and an aluminum lower. To do all that to an ar180 would cost you the same or more in the end.

The xcr can change calibers, not so with the 180.

Decide how much you wanna spend and then choose your poison.
 
I'm a novice to shooting so take my opinion with a grain of salt. I picked up a 180 about 6 months ago second hand and had a few problems with the scope mount and then some FTE's but after some fine tuning and TLC it runs great. I also picked up a XCR in the last shipment about a month ago so only 2 trips to the range and 250 rounds so far with 0 problems. Accuracy wise I shoot slightly smaller groups with the XCR but not by much. The 180 is easier to clean due to the XCR not opening up as much but that is solved with removal of 1 pin which doesn't take long. Both are alot of fun to shoot and the XCR gets the edge with regards to being a more robust design in my opinion but is there a $1000 difference not so sure. There is alot of information by more experienced shooters on this fourm which the search function should help. Both are great in my opinion but I still rather my CZ :p
 
The XCR gets around 1" groupings at a 100 yards. In testing we have found this to be so with the 5.56, 6.8, and the 7.62. I pull off .75" groupings at 100 yards with my Millet DMS-1. 1" with irons.
 
I've never actually bench fired my AR180B and tried to get a tight grouping. I plan to do that this spring and share my results. Try some match ammo as well.
 
Performance is similar, but quality of materials is no where close. I'm with Throttle Monkey on this one.

My AR180B has:
Stormwerkz Extended Rail
Armalite 2-Stage NM Trigger
My Reloads with Varget, Win Brass, CCI BR, and Sierra 69 gr MK and Hornady 68 gr HPBT
Removable Scope-eze Cheekpiece
and will soon have:
Bushnell 4200, 6-24x40 with ARMS Riser and Signature Zee Rings

I'm also planning some testing for this spring! I know it seems kind of silly, but I only have room and cash for one centerfire rifle at the moment, so might as well see if, with some optics swapping, it's good for both close and long range shooting.
 
Agent, I'm particularly interested to see the performance of my specific AR180B because I have the barrel free-floated. Maybe I'll do two tests, one with free-floated barrel and one without.
 
That's neat. I'm guessing that you have a different handguard for the free float, and you'll use the stock one for non free float? Well anyhoo we'll see how our rifles work when it warms up; I'll also be posting a range report once I get a chance to test out my rifle. :sniper:
