sorry for the obvious repost. i'm looking at AR style rifles in .308. what is available to us and which would garner your pick and why. i like dpms and patrot ordnance factory, but i would like to know what you guys think.
thanks for any insight.
ps. accuracy is very important, i would be shooting at ranges to 300yards.:sniper:

The only thing I've seen up here are AR10's.

COBB's in the US make a AR10 that is in 3 pieces, lower trigger group, mag group & upper.
All you need is a lower trigger group & to change calibers just buy a mag group & barreled upper .
They come in .223, .308, .30/06, .338 Lapua & a couple others.

Armalite and DPMS.

RRA is supposedly coming our soon. HK 417 civilian version will likely be introduced in the future but no one knows when.

Here's a pic of the COBB, AR style.
You can see how it is made into 3 parts.
The Mag group has a pin (seen under the mag release) holding it to the Lower Trigger group & then the barreled upper.

Be nice in .308 or 30-06 or .338 Lapua.
They are about $2700.00 USD.

I'm pretty sure that any AR10 you can buy today is restricted. I've heard about one or two in Canada that are not restricted because they were part of a production run that predates the AR15, but please don't quote me one it.

DPMS LR-308 is the best bang for the buck. Just get a RRA match trigger for it $140. You're still way ahead of the game.
The quality appears to be good, reviews are excellent and the magazine is very good (compatible with the SR25).

The cost of only the rifle for Armalite was about the same as the DPMS with a Zeiss Conquest scope.

I looked at all of the available options and this was the way I went. That being said I would have gone for the fluted barrel version if it had been available at the time.

I am a bit out of my comfort zone here, but how much interest is there in something like the DPMS Panther LR 308?
I have been asked to bring in a couple,if there is sufficient interest in folks buying these I would bring in more.
I am not suggesting a group buy just trying to get a feel for a market that is not really my niche.

thanks again for the help, it is appreciated. although i am still on the fence on which one, i have it narrowed down i think.
dpms
pof
springfield (yeah i know the socom is old school but have you seen the tiger stripe)
rra

i have about 8-10 weeks to make up my mind so wish me luck lol.

IMHO...

I don't know for .308 DPMS... Never shot one but read alot. I'm not saying they aren't good rifles, because if they were, they wouldn't be in business, but there's the old saying: you get what you pay for. There must be good reasons why the AR10 is more expensive than the DPMS.

For what it worth, here's a quote from Tactical Small Arms of the 21st Century (2006) by Charles Cutshaw, about the AR10(T) : "Although the AR10(T) has not been formally adopted by the United States military, many special forces individuals have purchased AR10(T) rifles for operational use, preferring it to standard-issue weapons."

As for the SR25, here's a quote from the Illustrated Manual of Sniper Skills by Mark Sipcer: "The SR25 is considered by all users to be very accurate, but some have expressed reservations about its reliability in action.".

All I'm saying is that amongst great rifles, some seem to be "greater" than others.
