As far as I know they are legal in Canada & non restricted.

I have seen a couple of them at my club. I used to have one many years ago but sold it. Should have kept it as it was very accurate.

Although born in Canada, I lived my life in the US. Many years ago I bought one of the Armalite AR-7s, and have enjoyed using it. I moved to Canada permanently in 2006, and brought with me as many of my firearms collection as I could. CFC did not require registration of the AR-7.

well i think i'll get one of these and try it out, i just got round to mailing my PAL papers out last fri so i cound register some things... Think i'll get one of these as soon as i get my licence:)

The Henry has a plastic barrel. If you can find an older model - an Armalite, Charter, or Survival - I think it would be a better bet. (Otherwise, I predict that, eventually, you will be looking for a (alloy) replacement barrel.)

And don't stock up on magazines until you have the rifle. Why? The Armalite, Charter, Survival, AR-7 Ind., and Henry magazines have variances that complicate things.

In an Armalite you will want Armalite magazines. In a Henry you will want Henry magazines.

YMMV

how did you get that barrel and stock into canada? i emailed that site and they told me they didn't ship to canada. period.

cabelas.ca sells them , i was looking at one 1 month ago, the guy told me there junk and jam up all the time and not to wast my time... so i walked out and did not buy one... (i take it they dont get commission) ...

but i still want one and will still buy one maybe in the spring

They can be brought in if the manufacturer has a US Export Permit or if it was brought in years ago under old rules.

If you want a different barrel, almost any gunsmith can make one, all you need is the threaded ring.

"...How is it with a scope, find it to be accurate?..."

To be honest, I purchased the rifle new a couple of years ago and have yet to put a single round through it. I suppose that I'll get around to shooting it eventually, but it's pretty much a 'novelty item' for me.

Heard you can get steel barrels for these. Anyone know where?

If the manufacturer doesn't have a US Export License, it can't leave the US anymore. If the manufacturer is small, they likely can't justify the expense of getting an annual export license. (the export permits cost them a fee plus percentage of export value or about $2,700 a year for an unlimited license. Minimum cost would still be hundreds of dollars just for export permits)

A distributer/dealer/exporter can't export a barrel unless the manufacturer is also holding an export license.

As I mentioned before, the easiest, cheapest solution is to have a barrel made here.

Basically what everyone else said - barrels and receivers are more difficult for the smaller US guys to send into Canada.

That said, I wonder about Majestic Arms...that would be fantastic!

P.S. I am biased in favour of the AR-7...even Henry's version!
