AR-7 survival rifle

I have an armalite that I've been shooting for about 18 years, and it has been great. No problems, just the odd stovepipe. The wax of the .22's builds up after awhile and needs to be taken out, which seems to be the cause of the FTE.

They are a cheap novelty item, had one years ago (early 80's). I put a lot of rounds through it and it didn't hold up well, the stock screw broke when I was attaching the stock one day. I had mag issues with 75% of my mags. Eventually the aluminum receiver developed a crack, although Charter Arms did end up replacing it under warranty for me. Sold it and bough a 10/22. I really don't believe the new AR-7s would be any better.

Mine eats Minimag Solids like a glutton...I'm thinking of substituting Winchester Wildcats as a cheap alternative (roughly the same velocity, an important factor: I don't want to burn-through the barrel while I try to break-in those stubbornly stiff springs on my Henry). :)

While I know the CCI's have had no FTF's or FTE's, I'm still trying to find a less expensive food for my AR-7! :p
