AR 9mm Buffer in .223 carbine?

Anyone here use something this heavy in a .223 Carbine. I'm starting another build and was wondering what the up and down sides are to using a 9mm buffer in a 16" carbine with a collapsible stock(I have the part. Used it in a 10" gun without much success). Does the weight adversely affect the cycling of the rifle? The buffer is pictured on this page.

I use a 9mm buffer in my 16" stag carbine, works first time every time, over a thousand rounds through with it in.

If I remeber corectly Sparrow and I used them back in our SMG phase and in our 14.5s they were fine, I'll call him tomorow and ask if he remembers.

I ran one in my 14.5" without a hickup.

I've played with this in an 11.5" CAR. Fed, fired, ejected every time. I don't think there's any real advantage with semi-auto fire aside from reducing muzzle rise somewhat and not sure if it beats up the gun more than necessary.
If you have issues, I suggest using a D-ring behind your extractor spring to eliminate the possibility of extraction problems if that's the issue you're having.

A Colt 9mm buffer weights just a fraction more than an H3 buffer at around 5.5 ounces. It is the heaviest buffer aside from the MGI rate reducing buffer which reduces the cyclic rate by 300 rounds per minute in full auto. You shouldn't have problems with a 16" CAR either.

Thanks for the replies. It's good to hear there aren't likely to be any issues. I'm not too interested in beating up my rifles for no good reason.
