So, I picked up an SR-22 this past summer. It's been great fun but now its time to get it personalized before the new shooting season starts.

Is there much modification required to fit a standard AR fore-end in place of the stock bit from Ruger? I've been told the grip will swap out, but there seems to be some question about whether or not the Ruger stock uses a mil-spec tube. These are just the most obvious and readily available changes I can make.

Any other suggestions or pics of other SR-22's that have been done up will be appreciated.

Cheers,

Robin

It's a mil-spec tube.

Ruger had a great idea with the SR-22, but I think they missed the follow through by not having their own line of aftermarket accessories.

You have a different handguard on yours did you need an adapter or did it fit just fine the way it is

I bought an extra front adapter, so that I can quickly switch between 2 different hand guards (I actually had 3 originally, but have since pared down to 2). I believe that you can remove the stock hand guard from the adapter and reuse the adapter on a different hand guard, although it is not easy to remove the stock HG due to a lot of locktite being installed at the Ruger factory.
Here is my SR-22 with the other HG installed:

But can you use just any standard AR 15 Handguard or does it require a special type? I found an ati one I liked and its made for an AR 15, will it fit on an Sr?

Thanks for the leads. Rimfire Central, Battledyne and Iron Eagle Tactical are all new to me.

I have ordered a couple of things from Dlask. Once those rails are on, I now have a whole bunch of options, thanks to everyone here.

I might have to buy another SR-22 just so I can make an SBR version like TEG has done!

The SR-22 is awesome, it's like Lego for big kids, but it'll end up costing you a fair bit of cash. Mines all magpuled out with dlask rails, bet it weighs close to 10lbs
