AR Actual 10.5 Barrel Length

I don't have one in front of me to actually measure, however, the exact length might vary slightly between manufacturer or even batch.

It's approximately .376" from where the bolt face sits in the extension to the face of the extension, so if you add that to 10.500", you get 10.876" (that includes the barrel extension).
I doubt it would be much (if any) shorter than that, could be a metric skootch longer?

How close of an answer are you looking for?

No that helps, thanks Malice.

I have a claimed 10.5 barrel that measures 11.625 from end to end.

So either it's not a 10.5 or the measurement process is different.

It does measure 10.5 exactly from the front of the flange to the end of the muzzle.

Edit: If i use the dowel to closed bolt measurement process I get 11.25"
Thoughts?????

Thanks

.223 Rem is correct. Closed bolt face to the end of the barrel is your actual barrel length. If it has the flash hider installed this is hard to get very precise.

Nope, no flash hider in any of these measurements, just to the end of the threads.

I just got an email from the manufacturer, and they use the process of measuring from the outside of the flange to the end of the threads to measure thier barrels. this is little odd to me because the flange is located about halfway up the chamber.

A little disappointing because this barrel is too long for my project.

I thought a 10.5 was a 10.5 but this 10.5 is about an inch longer than my other one.

Buyer beware, check with the manufacturer before you purchase.
