Hey,

Looking for feedback on future purchases. I'm a little torn because I love to mod, I want it all and above all trying to keep costs under control. Currently plinking up north, been a few years since i was a member of a club. Ballin on a budget and i'm sure steel .223 will be my new best friend. Not trying to win any contests here. Any parts I buy likely to be for 3gun setups.

i'm thinking it might be a good idea to try to get a NEO AERO AR15 stripped lower for $99 or something from EE.

All goes well, my WK180-C this fall. I'll be very tempted to get AR15 Triggers, stocks, grips, rails, flip sights, acog, yada magpull yada.

Question 1: Does my modding addiction mean it will be more cost effective long run building my own restricted AR starting with upper and lower vs. Buying something like a used S&P 15 Sport ii which I bet i'd end up modifying anyways? If I join a range again, I figure I can always return the WK180C to stock and have the best parts transferred to the AR15. I can lurk for deals no rush. It Would be really sweet to get a left handed upper/bolt carrier group.

Question 2: Does it make sense to...
1) Get a cheap stripped lower and slowly build a range 3gun. Torn between shooting <100m w/ PCC or 100± yards in AR15. 223 need to research it more. In meantime I could use some of the 3gun parts on the WK180 to keep the party going.

2) get a used AR15 like S&P 15 Sport ii an
turn it into my canvass

Thanks for taking the time to read this post and leave quick advice based on your experience, my wallet greatly appreciates it!

The laws are changing for the export on parts. I just went from one SBR style 11.5 barrel to 2 I did have a spare CHEAP upper and lower.I nickled and dimed on the receiver, bought a bunch of parts here. And a new barrel assy in 6.5 Grendel, after doing the build isnt that hard. I did a bit of time with one, watched YOUTUBE and now ive got 2 for not much. Just like he says build it, buy once cry once.

First, C71 does nothing to affect ARs. No need to panic buy anything before the election.

Second, not sure what your philosophy on modding is, but personally I dont like the idea of constantly swapping parts.

Buy a gun, assemble it to do what you want, and leave it alone. You might be in a tough position if for some reason you can only have 1 gun that needs to do everything, but since you are already committed to at least two, make a decision on what you want each one for. Hunting coyotes? 3 Gun? Target shooting at 300m? Once you decide, set them up for that and then leave it like that. Then just go shoot.

Regardless of which gun you get first or what you want to do, the thing that gets expensive and wasteful is not having any focus and buying a bunch of random parts that dont actually meet a need, or dont go together. There are some limitations to what the WK can support. You might find a grip for your ar that you want that wont fit your WK. What then?

Plan out your builds on a rifle by rifle basis to suit a shooting style or activity, follow your plan, you'll be fine.

If you are realky concerned about saving money, the EE is filled with guys selling New In Box accessories that they didnt need and are now selling for half of retail. Let their loss be your gun.

Respect for the advice guys. Totally get what your saying. I'm leaning towards 3gun NR build for now. Plan is to get back into the range in a few years and then have a dedicated AR15 for 3gun. I like the idea of 9x19 PCC for 3gun under 100m but if I'm going that route maybe I should be looking at a scorpion...If I buy any parts for the WK it's really with the intention of being part of a future 3gun range rifle.
