I'm not media, just new to firearms culture. I'm very sorry that my questions were poorly timed and insensitive to the current situation, I shouldn't have asked them right now. Thank you to those who replied with facts, I have my answer.

Don't appologize, you asked a question and got called out by a keyboard warrior only because you have a low post count, then the masses follow suit with there negative comments basically saying the same thing just in different wording, happens all the time until someone breaks the cycle and provides you with the info you were requesting. This is a internet forum ask what you want when you want and 90% of the time you will get the answers your looking for from knowledgable, respectful members.

No need to apologize for anything, it was just how you worded your question. You asked if there are magazines for your rifle with more than a 5 round capacity. Well the answer to that is No, all center fire rifle mags are required to be pinned at 5 rounds. However someone should have just answered what you were really asking without all this troll bs.

The answer to your question is...A center fire rifle mag is to be pinned at 5 rounds for the type of ammunition it was designed for, pistol magazines are to be pinned at 10 rounds for the type of ammunition it was designed for. (there are a few exceptions like the garand) There is no law prohibiting you from putting a pistol magazine into a rifle and there is no law prohibiting you from putting a type of ammunition into a magazine other then what it was designed for.

It was just bad timing to be asking a question like that. We've all seen the media articles being released with the only intent to instill fear and spread misinformation to achieve a anti gun agenda. Most media demonize guns and gun owners and as a result we have become much more wary of troll's and such here. Keep that in mind and welcome to CGN.

Welcome to CGN, have to say that your manner is both reasonable and mature, despite being "flamed" by others, good stuff.

Things do seem to be jumpy around here - which is understandable right now, hang in there, no stupid questions, keep an eye on the posts you'll learn plenty, all the best.

Honestly, troll or not, this information was useful for me, since I'm just completing my AR purchase and included a few lar15 mags.

I'd make sure you have a copy of at least the special bulletin by the RCMP: http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/cfp-pcaf/bulletins/bus-ent/20110323-72-eng.htm Keep it with your ltatt and reg documents. The issue unfortunately that you're going to find out that at least some of the members at your range will have no idea this is even legal. You don't want to get into an arguement with someone at the range over your 'illegal magazine' -- the .50 cal mags seem to be legal as well, time will tell if it stays that way

Welcome to the sometimes VERY FRUSTRATING world of firearms regs -- but it's awesome to go out and shoot at the range, so you'll just have to grin and bare it like everyone else :)

edit: oh the main thing here is don't use the phrase "get around" makes it sound like you're trying to do something iffy.

Hey! Welcome to the AR club, always good to hear about another member, the more of us there are the better the odds of us maintaining our rights to own them!

I agree, it's always a good idea to have a little extra insurance as you've mentioned, just in case, smart thinking against a ignorant "expert".
