AR and Mini 14 mags...interchangeable?

I just saw a butler creek mag labled for AR-15/Mini 14 ?

Are the mags the same?

No, issue mags are not the same.

Some of the aftermarket mfgers made a plastic "multi use" mag, which didn't work well in anything...

Ditto; you sometimes see a 3-way mag marked for use in AR-180s, Mini-14s, and AR-15s.

AR18 mags will fit in AR15's or vise versa. If you see an AR15 magazine with a little hole in the side, its for an AR18 type rifle.

ram-line used to make a 30 rounder that fitted all 3- i had one or still have it somewhere- it's got the hole in the side as well as a dealie on the back as well- butler creek may very well have a similar product

I had a RamLine 30 for the AR and Mini, and it only worked in the Mini.

man, I could not imagine how bad those 3 way mags must have been. I remember my Ruger made 30 rounders would not feed at all! lol..nevermind a 3 way everything mag!

I never got the mini 14. Why the hell was it so hard to just make a hi-cap mag that worked???? I bought three 30 rounders for mine when I had it and I had to fiddle forever with the feed lips to get them to feed. And even then the hold open feature would screw up.

I've got one of the Ram-Line magazines, I've never actually used it because it looks crap, but it does fit my AR-15 and locks the bolt open. I haven't got a Mini-14 to try it in.
