Hey guys,
I posted here because I figured there are more AR-tech savvy people reading these posts on a daily basis who might know...
I am thinking of dropping a stainless 20" AR-15 barrel into my AR180B for fun (and to be the first to do so).
First, I'd remove the barrel extension from the 180B, then remove the barrel, insert the new bare AR barrel and install the barrel extension.
I am not too worried about port distance as the 180B piston can be shimmed (or a section removed; unlikely) to accommodate length.
The barrel diameter on the 180B (by the gas port) is roughly 0.75" which is the standard contour on most AR barrels; the threaded, clamp style FSH on the 180B will accommodate.
It would appear to be an easy job, and I plan on attempting it within the next month; I don't have an AR barrel to look at so I can't say for certain if I am on track or way off.
But, judging from this picture I made... it'd be damn close:
Anyway, back to the question... What should the torque be on the barrel extension? (this is the only value I am unsure of - I assume it's the same as the Barrel Nut on the AR-15 30~80 ft/lbs?
I have a 5.56 Field Guage as well to make sure I don't blow myself up
~Cheers
